The next Instructional Masses One Sunday each month at all the Masses we will highlight one piece of the Mass. The celebrant will take a few moments to explain the “who, what and why” of a particular action. There will be a bulletin handout which will have material for children and adults. The next Instructional Mass will take place next weekend, October 13-14, and cover the sacred vessels and vestments used during Mass. There was a great response to the first brunch, so we’re asked the Knights of Columbus to host a pancake brunch after 9 AM Mass on October 14th at minimal cost, with a cap of $10 per family. Please plan ahead to stay after Mass and socialize with your brothers and sisters in the St Paul family!

Can you carry a tune? Play an instrument? Use a laptop?

If the answer is yes, our Music Ministry needs YOU! Please contact Joyce if you would like to participate in one of our music groups, or if you would like to learn how to run the sound board or to project the song lyrics during Mass.

Annual Meetings for Lectors and Extra- Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

The annual Lector meeting will take place on Saturday, October 20th – 10 AM-12noon. Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion have two options for participating in the annual meeting: this Saturday 10/13—10 AM-12noon OR Monday 10/15—7-9 PM. Please make every effort to attend one of these meetings.

MONTH OF THE ROSARY The Holy Father invites all the faithful to pray the Holy Rosary every day during the Marian month of October and thus join in communion and in penitence, as the people of God, in asking the Holy Mother of God and St. Michael Archangel to protect the Church from the devil, who always seeks to separate us from God and from each other. He asked for the inclusion of the “Sub Tuum Praesidium” and “Prayer to St. Michael.” These prayers can be found on the Liturgy page of our website.

In the kindness of your prayers, please remember the soul of Carmen Heckler. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May

she rest in peace. Amen.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living

“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the

faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a

diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have

learned along the way.

New Bible Study for Women Join women of the parish for this exciting new Bible study aimed at creating a deep and lasting transformation of your heart. The group will explore important questions such as:

• How can I conquer my fear? • What is the role of the Holy Spirit in my life? • What’s the point of Eucharist? • What are the limits of Christ’s forgiveness? • Why and how should I pray? • What is the role of suffering in my life?

This 22-lesson series takes place Tuesday mornings from 9-11 AM beginning November 6. The cost is $45. Child care will be offered but please contact Heidi Clark to make arrangements: [email protected] or 281.333.3891, ext. 328.

Silver Linings Meeting The next Silver Linings meeting is on Monday, October 8, at 1 PM in Room 10. The theme is Halloween.

October Rosary Campaign In October, the Legion of Mary is sponsoring a Pray the Rosary Campaign aimed at uniting our community with the common goal of growing in devotion and holiness together. Legion of Mary members will distribute rosary tally sheets to all who wish to participate. Participants will keep track of the number of rosaries prayed and, at the end of the month, an announcement will be made as to the final number. This is part of an effort being promoted by Fr. Victor Perez, the area Legion of Mary’s spiritual director. Fr. Victor spent his pastoral year as a seminarian here at St. Paul.

PRO-LIFE News: Pray for Those on Death Row On Oct. 10, Juan Segundo is scheduled to be executed by the State of Texas, On Oct. 24, Kwame Rockwell is scheduled to be executed by the State of Texas.

Our Catholic faith calls us to pray for Troy, Daniel Juan and Kwame and for all victims of crime, and for an end to capital punishment here in the State of Texas. May God hear our prayers in support of all life.

One-Day Retreat So the Story Goes: God’s Presence in My Life God wants access to all of us, but too often, we miss opportunities for grace. Some of us hold back the "ugly" parts of our life thinking God couldn't possibly be interested in us as we grapple with a crisis, hurt, despair, or grief. Others are too caught up in the chaos of life to notice the soothing balm of God's grace. When we reflect on our lives through the lens of faith, we can see the activity of God with clarity. This one-day retreat is designed to help participants pause. To look back on the joys and sorrows of your life with a Paschal Mystery spirituality. To learn and practice the skills of reflective journaling. To integrate the wisdom of the Psalms into your conversations with God. To help you see your story as God sees it. Led by Julie Dienno-Demarest, a spiritual director, author, and religious educator, and Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Faith Formation, with a background in journalism. Together, Julie and Heidi will help you access theological insights, and in the style of a writers-workshop, apply them to your life. Registration forms are at the Welcome Center.

New members can join at any time. $10 per session. A professionally trained male psychotherapist facilitates these groups. Our Cabrini office is located on NASA Road 1 near St. Paul parish.
