The peace of Christ to members and friends of St. Paul’s,
Recently I had the opportunity to attend a pastor’s Installation at one of our fellow congregations of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The pastor had accepted a call to serve a congregation in Humble,
Texas. This happened to be my home congregation for many years, and this was one of the congregations
that formed and shaped me as a pastor, right up until the time I went away to Seminary.
Before the Installation began, I was assigned a Bible verse to read in the service – Matthew 28:18-20.
Those verses form our mission statement here at St. Paul’s to “Go, Make, Baptize, Teach!”
Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember I am with you always, to the end of
the age.”
Now what are the chances of me being given those verses out of ALL the verses in the Bible? I don’t think it
was a coincidence, luck, or fate, but God’s plan. I am amazed all the time, by how God guides us carefully
with his Word. We are reminded of his sure love and sovereignty
for eternity and also his commands to follow. His words ring
out to us on Schilling Avenue in Baytown but also speak to the
whole church. We have a calling which is bigger than
anything we can plan or control, sent to us by
Jesus Christ our Lord. We step out in faith!
Let us bless the Lord for his wonders among us.
On Easter we celebrate the miracle of Jesus’
resurrection from the dead and his gift of
salvation to all believers!
May God be praised by his faithful ones!
Easter blessings,
Pastor Nancy

Cover the City Saturday, May 4th is a community wide prayer walk around the city
limits of Baytown, Texas. St. Paul’s will be assigned a pit-stop location for walkers to rest and refresh.
The mission of Cover the City is to:
• See the churches and Christians of Baytown unite in this day of prayer for our city • Bring meaningful change to our community through the power of prayer
• Create a visible and tangible witness to the power of prayer WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT Expect a challenge physically, mentally, and spiritually, but prepare for a blessing! It is not always easy to stay in focused prayer for hours on end, and it is definitely not easy to walk for hours at a time, but this is one challenge that will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and spiritually charged! While the course does cover 40 miles, please remember that our goal is to cover the City of Baytown in prayer collectively. You are not expected to walk all 40 miles. Cover the City is designed for you to walk as much or little as you are able. Whether you are able to walk 1 mile or all 40, you will be a part of bringing the power of prayer to our city!
If you are interested in being a St. Paul’s Pit Stop volunteer,
please talk with Kevin Johnston. 346-288-0309
If you would like to participate as a prayer walker,
