Hello St. Paul’s and Friends,

There are some things I take for granted – like having a Bible to read and study in my native language.

A visitor once pointed out to me how many different Bibles I have on the shelves in my study. Others are

surprised at seeing all the red Bibles in our pew racks in the sanctuary. We have Bibles throughout the

church facility, being used at different times. We also have access to the Bible on our smartphones and

computers. We are blessed to have the written Word of God so readily available to us.

Some people are just getting Bibles translated into their own language!

I received a letter from Lutheran Bible Translators with pictures of the

Kalanga people in Africa receiving for the FIRST TIME on August 25, 2018,

complete Bibles in their “heart language.” In one picture they are holding up

their Bibles proudly and in the other picture, one woman is presenting new

Bibles in a basket of millet. Millet is a staple food like bread is for Americans.

A visual of Jesus being the Bread of Life. This great blessing happened with

the committed work of Lutheran Bible Translators and Missionaries Rev.

Michael and JoAnn Megahan. God has blessed their efforts and brought it to

pass. Praise God!

It is good to consider that our heritage as Lutherans is with Martin Luther who translated the Latin Bible

into German - the language of the people in Germany. This was a reform in the Church which continues to

inspire and encourage us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us hold on to the Good News written in

the Word, “for by grace you have

been saved by faith.” We will

celebrate the Reformation on

Sunday, October 28.

Onward by faith in Jesus Christ,

Pastor Nancy
