The Man from Boone
He came to us unbidden, unwanted and unknown Our Bishop said he was the man to make our future sound
He said St. Paul’s is dying, poor, and broken The man from Boone will make repairs to all that is unspoken
In your structure and your scripture and dark places in your hearts.
He started with a purpose to bring guidance from above, By showing us God’s meaning, His healing and His love.
He said, I’ll tell you all a secret, one that God wants me to share, Love thy neighbor as thyself is all you need to bear
In order to become the church that God wants you to be.
We worked and prayed and formed new teams, we listened to his call To grow and thrive and make this church a place for one and all. God’s grace is something given you, not something you can earn,
It may take time, but this is one thing that you will have to learn
If you expect to be the church that God wants you to be.
With purpose and with planning we made a new beginning
So that in God’s own good time we knew we could be winning The hearts and souls of people to bring into the fold
With love and comfort and all the faith our feeble minds could hold, And soon we will become the church that God wants us to be.
Just as Jesus told the Twelve, “where I’m going you cannot go,”
It’s time for us to tell ourselves that we must let him go To the green hills where his heart is led and the place that he calls home.
Of all the gifts he gave to us the greatest one was shown To be the phrase “To Know Christ and to make Him Known”
But the greatest gift that God gave us was the “Man from Boone.” Lynda Miller May 29, 2013
