“ONE NATION, UNDER GOD” July 6-7 will be our second Adoration-with-a-Mission.

Offer just an hour to come pray for our country: its future, prosperity,

natural resources, and its people. Beginning on (First) Friday, July 6, with the 7:30am

Morning Mass, Eucharistic Adoration will start immediately after. We then celebrate

the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 7pm, with adoration continuing through the evening.

It will conclude at 7:20am, (First) Saturday, July 7, with Benediction,

followed immediately with Mass and Devotions. Let us come and pray

together as a united community once more, for these,

our United States of America!

In recogni#on of our na#on’s

independence, spend an hour

with our Lord!

NEW BEGINNINGS

July 1st marks a new chapter in the ministry of priests in the Archdiocese. Today, I am personally (blessed and grateful) entering my third year as your associate pastor. If the Archbishop does not “send” or “call” me to an unexpected assignment, the appointment letter says I can be with you until 2020. Father Riz himself has been granted another term (6 years) as pastor. Pray for us your priests that we may truly serve with the Heart of the Good Shepherd. We still have a lot of “mission”, “leading and saving souls” to do here in the vineyard of St. Peter Claver. We do pray that this coming Advent, our faith community finally inaugurates our Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration chapel. ~Fr. Adrian ♥♥♥

MIRACLES OF JESUS, THE OCCULT AND ESOTERIC

Our Gospel recounts Our Lord Jesus healing, restoring two individuals: the resuscitation of Jairus’ daughter and the curing of the hemorrhagic woman (who suffered for 12 years!).

Today, many people are skeptical about the possibility of miracles. A miracle is defined as a suspension of the law of nature, but in Jesus’ day, the “laws of nature” were unknown. A miracle was a “sign” of God’s power.

The miracles of Jesus were an extremely important part of his ministry. If his words proclaimed the coming of God’s reign, his miracles revealed that reign coming with power. Biblical scholars believe that some of the miracle stories grown out of legend for teaching purposes, but there is little doubt that Jesus was in fact a miracle worker. Most of the miracles of Jesus were healing miracles and exorcisms. They were signs of God’s reign overcoming the powers of sickness and evil in the world. They were part of the Good News of God’s care for his children.

As Catholics, we should never seek benefits from spiritual powers outside of God or open doorways by which evil spirits may attack us extraordinarily. The following practices and beliefs go against directly or indirectly the First Commandment. Purifying our Catholic faith not only pleases God but allows the fullness of God’s graces, blessings, gifts and protection to enter into our lives. Since defining each of these practices goes beyond the scope of this article, it is recommended that the reader who desires to know more about particular practices and beliefs does the necessary research to discover and attain their esoteric and occult connections, sources and origins. (Reference: Catholic Handbook of Deliverance Prayers, 2012)

Then the devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence, and he said to him, “All these I shall give to you, if you will prostrate yourself and

worship me.” At this, Jesus said to him, “Get away, Satan! It is written: ‘The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.’” Then the devil left him and, behold, angels came and

ministered to him. (Matthew 4:8-11)

Mark 5:21-43 We are fortunate to have people who care for us when we are sick. Caring for people who

are sick can be very rewarding, especially when we help them feel more comfortable. But it can also be

discouraging because sometimes there seems to be little we can do to help them feel better. We must

remember to place everyone in the caring hands of Jesus, just as Jarius did with his daughter.

The Office of Faith Formation is closed Fourth of July Week!

On June 3, 2018 devastation struck just 30 miles southwest of Guatemala City when the Volcán de Fuego erupted resulting in approximately 114 deaths, 200 missing persons and close to 3 thousand displaced persons from destroyed homes. The volcano is generating currents of hot gas of 1,000 degrees in temperature that are fast flowing and reaching speeds of

up to 430 mph. On top of these terrifying statistics, the volcano has been producing gas and ash eruptions, which make search and rescue efforts extremely dangerous. During this time, Guatemala is in solemn need of our prayers and support

as they face such devastating loss within their community.

In solidarity with our suffering brothers and sisters, Archbishop Gomez has asked all parishes to consider conducting

LIVE THE LITURGY - God does not rejoice in our demise or our destruc!on. Rather, He made us in His image

and desires that we have life. He also desires that we be healed and know His loving touch. There is great

power in an embrace. The touch of another can heal wounds and restore life. There is also power in faith. Faith

can turn us toward the truth and turn us toward God. God can profoundly change how we see Him, ourselves,

and one another. God desires that we turn toward Him and be healed of all that wounds and binds us so that

we can be free and enjoy the fullness life. Reach out and share your faith with someone this week so that they

can receive God's life-changing embrace.

As the baptized, we are called into community, and we are strongest when all members have full faith in Jesus Christ. When one of us falters

or begins to doubt his or her faith, that is when our faith is to be shared freely as a source of strength. If we hold our faith

inside, then those around us will miss a chance to be edified and strengthened by our witness.

We can give freely of our money, our time, and our talents but still not share our faith with those around us. This hinders the Body of Christ's ability to evangelize and spread the Good News.

It also helps to keep members of that Body weak, because without the chance to hear our stories of faith, those with the need to hear

can remain discouraged and lost. Faith is a gift from God to us, just like any other. We are called

to cultivate our faith and grow it into abundance. If we do not share it with others, then why grow it at all? We are not saved because we have more faith than someone else. We are no better off with storage bins

filled with knowledge, devotion, and faith experience than a baby on its day of baptism. The difference between the baby and us is that we have

something now to share and the responsibility to do so.

It can be difficult to investigate abuse situations involving children, as they may be vulnerable to lies, threats or manipulation by the abuser. It is critical to remember that the victim is the most

important in a suspected abuse situation. Keeping the child in focus will help adults who suspect

abuse act with compassion and care to keep the child from further pain. For a copy of the complete
