The LORD said to Abram:“Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.
“I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you.” Abram went as the LORD directed him.

Our Lord speaks to Abraham
A Reading from the Second Letter of St. Paul to Timothy (2 TM 1:8B-10)
Beloved: Bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God.
He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to our works but according to his own design and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time began, but now made manifest through the appearance of our savior Christ Jesus, who destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew (MT 17:1-9) People: Glory to you, O Lord.
At that time, Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a highmountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone likethe sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijahappeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, itis good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, onefor Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloudcast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is mybeloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciplesheard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came andtouched them, saying, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” And when the disciples raisedtheir eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down fromthe mountain, Jesus charged them, “Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Sonof Man has been raised from the dead.” Priest: The Gospel of the Lord. People: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
The Responsorial: Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you. (PS 33:4-5, 18-19, 20,22)
Lector: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless Glory! People Only: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless Glory! (Stand) Lector Only: From the shining cloud the Father’s voice is heard:
This is my beloved Son, hear him. (MT 17:5)
People Only: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless Glory!
Priest: The Lord be with you. People: And with your spirit.
Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through Him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation He came down
from heaven,At the words that follow, up to and including and became Man, all bow
and by the Holy Spirit was Incarnate of the
Virgin Mary and became Man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
He suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living
and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver ofLife, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
Who with the Father and the Son is adored and
glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the deadand the life of the world to come. Amen.
