leyes de Dios como base de una vida buena, y obediencia a los mandamientos de Dios se presenta en el contexto de una relación de amor. El reto dado a Israel es no dejar que los mandamientos “deslizan de tu corazón en toda tu vida” (Dt. 4:7) Jesús reta a los Fariseos porque parecen estar más interesados en interpretar la Ley que vivirla, es decir: tener la mente y corazón de Dios. Dan a Dios servicio desde los labios, pero
no vivido. Y así viene el reto para nosotros: que si tengamos la mente y el corazón de Dios en nosotros, otros verán nuestra fe y el camino de Dios … “Discípulos Misioneros”! Vivir la Ley lleva a ser justo, a estar en buena relación con Dios y con toda la creación. No servicio de labios, sino de hechos. Nuestros esfuerzos a tomar la mente y el corazón de Dios, a servir con amor, eso es evangelizar.

Inner Faith / Outer Ac ons Our Old Testament books present God’s laws as the founda on of a good life, and obedience to God’s commandments is placed in the context of a rela onship of love. The challenge that is given to Israel is to not let the commandments “slip from your heart as long as you live” (Dt. 4:7). Jesus challenges the Pharisees who seem to be more concerned with interpre ng the Law than living its purpose: to take on the mind and heart of God. They gave God lip service, but not lived service. And so, the challenge is given to us: that if the mind and heart of God are within us, others will see our faith and God’s ways … “Missionary Disciples”! Living the Law leads to jus ce, to right rela onship with God and all crea on. Not lip service, but rather …lived service. Our efforts to take on the mind and heart of God, to serve with love, that’s evangeliza on.

Missionary Cooperation Appeal Results Thank you to those who contributed $2,099.25 at St. Philip to the Missionary Cooperation Appeal conducted during the month of July! You may recall that Fr. Richard Notter spoke here July 14-15 on behalf of the Circus and Traveling Show Ministry. Fr. Richard’s ministry is one of 38 missionary groups associated with the Pontifical Mission Societies that is being given the opportunity this summer to make presentations at parishes in the Diocese of Green Bay. Funds collected are transmitted to the Catholic Foundation, then distribut-ed among the missionary organizations participating in the appeal. So your generosity will help those who benefit from all 38 of the missionary organizations who are participating in the 2018 appeal throughout the diocese. Thank you!

El Padre Richard Notter estuvo con nosotros y nos habló del ministerio pastoral a los que trabajan con los circos. God’s blessings to all students and teachers returning to school for the 2018-19 school year. With the children’s safety in mind we ask that after September 3rd you please NOT park by the fire hydrant across the street, nor by the school bus loading and unloading zones directly in front of our church building. Parking is allowed in church lot for 7:30 am weekday services, but cars may not be in parking lot after 8:10 am. School begins Tuesday, Sept. 4th! Thank you for your cooperation! Now that the dust has settled with our church picnic, I’d like to take a moment to thank those who have helped with
the set-up/clean-up of tables & chairs; helped with cutting vegetables; donated awesome baked goods; manned tables selling tickets for bucket raffle, bakery, 50/50, food booths, and a special thank you to Tim Loritz for making a fabulous-tasting booyah! The picnic could not have happened without your help, so a huge THANK YOU to those who attended our church picnic! The profit from this year’s Parish Picnic/Fiesta is: $3,518.87. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make our picnic a success! We are already planning for next year, so if you have any suggestions, please feel free to approach me anytime with your thoughts.
