There will be boxes labeled for the particular program inside the main entrance to place these items.

The second mailing of Stewardship information has been sent out. If it happens to cross in the mail and our office, thank you for returning the stewardship card. Father Woodland is looking for 100% participation even if you can only offer a prayer. School families that receive in parish tuition need to have a card on file by December 16, 2017.

Our parish cookbooks are hot off the press and will make great Christmas gifts. They are $15.00 a piece / or 2 for $25.00. Please call the parish office for more details.

During this Advent season we have many activities and events that are occurring. We have Mass on Monday, December 12th, Our Lady of Guadalupe hosted by 8th grade and Friday, Dec. 16th hosted by the faculty and the pre-Kindergarten who will present the Nativity play. All Masses are at 8:45 AM. Students in 3rd through 8th grade will be have the opportunity to receive penance from Father Woodland during classroom penance services.

****************************** We would like to invite you to a very special event. Please join us on Thursday, December 14 at 7:00 PM for our annual Kindergarten through 4th Grade Christmas program. The program is held in the church. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the Advent season.

****************************** We are still collecting baby items for Pregnancy Aid. Pregnancy Aid is a service agency located right here in our Des Moines community. Their mission is to help pregnant women or young mothers. We are working together as a school to help them during this Advent season. The drive stared December 7th and runs through Dec. 13th. We are asking the parishioners to help out. This is a great way to extend the true meaning of Advent to those in need.

Is your 6th-12th grader looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon? Why not have them attend Youth Group. Youth Group meets about twice a month form 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoons. There is no cost and it is a great way for the youth in our parish to learn more about their faith, have some fun and help others. Why not give it a try!

The St. Philomena Parish Youth Group is sponsoring this year’s Giving Tree Project!! We Need Your Help! Please take a paper ornament off the Giving Tree, purchase the item and return the unwrapped item with the paper ornament attached. Please put the item in the boxes by the Giving Tree. All items will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society to hand out to needy families in our community! The Giving Tree Project runs from December 3rd through December 18th. The Youth Group will be helping out at the Knights Santa Breakfast on Sunday, December 18th after the 8:30 AM & 10:30 AM Masses.
