Year of Mercy for Youth
Pope Francis has invited different groups of people to come and celebrate the Year of Mercy with him at the
Vatican. The first group meeting with the Pope is with the adolescents of the world this weekend (check our
Web site at http://stpiusvchurch.com/). We will also celebrate with the different groups on the same days that the
Pope has his celebrations.
We will meet with the youth of our Parish on Monday, April 25th at 7:00 PM in the Church. We invite the
Confirmation classes to join us at the Prayer Service. Just come and meet at the Church by 7pm. The Junior
High students can be dropped off at their class and then move to the Church for the prayer service. We also in-
vite the parents and the whole community to come and pray with and for the youth of our Parish.
nuestra parroquia.

Dear friends,
It is Festival Day! Come out to support the parish, to have fun, and join in fellowship.
Last weekend, on the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, we heard Jesus’s call to be Good Shepherds following
in his footsteps. I would ask you to take this call to prayer and consider whether Jesus is calling you to shepherd
his flock as a deacon. We are blessed with 3 wonderful deacons in this parish: Celestino Perez, Dan Seiler, and
Heath Hampton. Even though Dan Seiler has “retired” status, he is active as ever in caring for us. Yet we need
more men who are willing to serve in this ordained ministry, now and in the years to come. If you think you
might have a call to the diaconate, please contact me and let us discern together.
Our school year is coming to an end and next school year looks to be an exciting one as we implement a new
model for excellence. St. Pius V Catholic School has long been a part of our identity as a parish and we intend
that the parish and school should work closely together to fulfill our common purpose as a sign of Christ’s pres-
ence among his people. I urge you to consider enrolling your children in our parish school where they will receive
the best of education and a faith foundation for life. You can visit or call the school office for more information.
May God bless us with good weather for the Festival.
Fr. Joe

Queridos amigos,
Celestino Pérez, Dan Seiler, y Heath Hampton.
Padre Joe

First Reading Acts 14:21-27 After Paul and Barnabas had proclaimed the good news to that city and made a considerable number of disciples, they returned to Lystra
and to Iconium and to Antioch. They strengthened the spirits of the disciples and exhorted them to persevere in the faith, saying, “It is
necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.” They appointed elders for them in each church and, with
prayer and fasting, commended them to the Lord in whom they had put their faith. Then they traveled through Pisidia and reached
Pamphylia. After proclaiming the word at Perga they went down to Attalia. From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been
commended to the grace of God for the work they had now accomplished. And when they arrived, they called the church together and
reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
Responsorial Psalm Ps 145 R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
Second Reading Rev 21:1-5a
Then I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I
also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a
loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people
and God himself will always be with them as their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or
mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away.” The One who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”
Gospel Jn 13:31-33a, 34-35
When Judas had left them, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will
also glorify him in himself, and God will glorify him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. I give you a new
commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my
disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Atravesaron luego Pisidia y llegaron a
