Year of Mercy for Youth

Pope Francis has invited different groups of people to come and celebrate the Year of Mercy with him at the

Vatican. The first group meeting with the Pope is with the adolescents of the world this weekend (check our

Web site at http://stpiusvchurch.com/). We will also celebrate with the different groups on the same days that the

Pope has his celebrations.

We will meet with the youth of our Parish on Monday, April 25th at 7:00 PM in the Church. We invite the

Confirmation classes to join us at the Prayer Service. Just come and meet at the Church by 7pm. The Junior

High students can be dropped off at their class and then move to the Church for the prayer service. We also in-

vite the parents and the whole community to come and pray with and for the youth of our Parish.

nuestra parroquia.

Dear friends,

It is Festival Day! Come out to support the parish, to have fun, and join in fellowship.

Last weekend, on the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, we heard Jesus’s call to be Good Shepherds following

in his footsteps. I would ask you to take this call to prayer and consider whether Jesus is calling you to shepherd

his flock as a deacon. We are blessed with 3 wonderful deacons in this parish: Celestino Perez, Dan Seiler, and

Heath Hampton. Even though Dan Seiler has “retired” status, he is active as ever in caring for us. Yet we need

more men who are willing to serve in this ordained ministry, now and in the years to come. If you think you

might have a call to the diaconate, please contact me and let us discern together.

Our school year is coming to an end and next school year looks to be an exciting one as we implement a new

model for excellence. St. Pius V Catholic School has long been a part of our identity as a parish and we intend

that the parish and school should work closely together to fulfill our common purpose as a sign of Christ’s pres-

ence among his people. I urge you to consider enrolling your children in our parish school where they will receive

the best of education and a faith foundation for life. You can visit or call the school office for more information.

May God bless us with good weather for the Festival.

Fr. Joe

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Queridos amigos,
Hoy dia es nuestro Festival! Ven a apoyar a la parroquia, para divertirse, y unirse en comunión.
El fin de semana pasado, en la Jornada Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones, escuchamos la llamada de Jesús a
ser buenos pastores siguiendo sus pasos. Les pediría que tome esta llamada a la oración y considere si Jesús le
llama a apacentar a sus ovejas como diácono. Somos bendecidos con 3 diáconos maravillosos en esta parroquia:
Celestino Pérez, Dan Seiler, y Heath Hampton. A pesar de que Dan Seiler sea "retirado”, el es activo como
siempre en el cuidado de nosotros. Sin embargo, necesitamos más hombres que están dispuestos a servir en este
ministerio ordenado, ahora y en los años venideros. Si usted piensa que podría tener un llamado al diaconado, por
favor, póngase en contacto conmigo y vamos a discernir juntos.
Nuestro año escolar está llegando al fin y el año que viene será muy emocionante al implementar un nuevo
modelo de excelencia. San Pío V Escuela Católica ha sido durante mucho tiempo una parte de nuestra identidad
como parroquia y tenemos la intención de que la parroquia y la escuela deben trabajar en estrecha colaboración
para cumplir con nuestro propósito común como un signo de la presencia de Cristo entre su pueblo. Los insto a
considerar la inscripción de sus hijos en nuestra escuela parroquial donde recibirán la mejor de la educación y una
fundación de fe para la vida. Usted puede visitar o llamar a la oficina de la escuela para más información.
Que Dios nos bendiga con buen tiempo para el Festival.
Padre Joe
Find the Missal (Ordinary of the Mass) at 150 in Oramos Cantando/We Pray in Song
First Reading Acts 14:21-27 After Paul and Barnabas had proclaimed the good news to that city and made a considerable number of disciples, they returned to Lystra
and to Iconium and to Antioch. They strengthened the spirits of the disciples and exhorted them to persevere in the faith, saying, “It is
necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.” They appointed elders for them in each church and, with
prayer and fasting, commended them to the Lord in whom they had put their faith. Then they traveled through Pisidia and reached
Pamphylia. After proclaiming the word at Perga they went down to Attalia. From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been
commended to the grace of God for the work they had now accomplished. And when they arrived, they called the church together and
reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
Responsorial Psalm Ps 145 R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
Second Reading Rev 21:1-5a
Then I, John, saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I
also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a
loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people
and God himself will always be with them as their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or
mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away.” The One who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”
Gospel Jn 13:31-33a, 34-35
When Judas had left them, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will
also glorify him in himself, and God will glorify him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. I give you a new
commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my
disciples, if you have love for one another.”
El Misal (Ordinario de la Misa) esta en Oramos Cantando/We Pray in Song a Partir de 150
Primera lectura Hch 14, 21b-27 En aquellos días, volvieron Pablo y Bernabé a Listra, Iconio y Antioquía, y ahí animaban a los discípulos y los exhortaban a perseverar
en la fe, diciéndoles que hay que pasar por muchas tribulaciones para entrar en el Reino de Dios. En cada comunidad designaban
presbíteros, y con oraciones y ayunos los encomendaban al Señor, en quien habían creído. Atravesaron luego Pisidia y llegaron a
Panfilia; predicaron en Perge y llegaron a Atalía. De ahí se embarcaron para Antioquía, de donde habían salido, con la gracia de Dios,
para la misión que acababan de cumplir. Al llegar, reunieron a la comunidad y les contaron lo que había hecho Dios por medio de ellos
y cómo les había abierto a los paganos las puertas de la fe.
Salmo Responsorial Salmo 144 R. Bendeciré al Señor eternamente. Aleluya.
Segunda lectura Apoc. 21, 1-5a
Yo, Juan, vi un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, porque el primer cielo y la primera tierra habían desaparecido y el mar ya no existía.
También vi que descendía del cielo, desde donde está Dios, la ciudad santa, la nueva Jerusalén, engalanada como una novia, que va a
desposarse con su prometido. Oí una gran voz, que venía del cielo, que decía: “Ésta es la morada de Dios con los hombres; vivirá con
ellos como su Dios y ellos serán su pueblo. Dios les enjugará todas sus lágrimas y ya no habrá muerte ni duelo, ni penas ni llantos,
porque ya todo lo antiguo terminó”. Entonces el que estaba sentado en el trono, dijo: “Ahora yo voy a hacer nuevas todas las cosas”.
Evangelio Jn 13, 31-33a. 34-35
Cuando Judas salió del cenáculo, Jesús dijo: “Ahora ha sido glorificado el Hijo del hombre y Dios ha sido glorificado en él. Si Dios ha
sido glorificado en él, también Dios lo glorificará en sí mismo y pronto lo glorificará. Hijitos, todavía estaré un poco con ustedes. Les
doy un mandamiento nuevo: que se amen los unos a los otros, como yo los he amado; y por este amor reconocerán todos que ustedes
son mis discípulos”.
