Ketchup on Your Hot Dog? NO! Catch-up on Your Offerings? YES!

Let’s be “frank.” Our parish’s budget is in the red. Not because we’ve been spending more than planned — the dollars coming in through offerings are less than we planned for. Our parish currently has a deficit of $32,998 in our Offertory budget. That budget pays for administrative expenses, worship and liturgical services, Catholic education in our School and Religious Education Program, and over 40 parish ministries, not to mention inevitable maintenance and utilities.

Perhaps you missed Mass once or twice, or just forgot to bring your envelope. The gas company didn’t forget to send its bill. Time to catch up!

Maybe you spent the winter months in a warm location. Help us catch up on the heating bills!

… OR you have been contributing faithfully every week. Can you help by making a catch-up offering for another family that just can’t do it at this time?

Please consider prayerfully making a catch-up contribution soon. For less than the cost of a day at the ballpark, you can help close the $32,998 gap in our Offertory budget for the 2018-19 Fiscal Year, which ends on June 30th. Without your help, our parish family will not be able to meet our budgeted expenses. The easiest way to make your gift is through our Online Giving Program. The link is on our parish homepage at www.stpiuslombard.org. Either Login into your account or choose the Quick Give link, allowing you to make a one time contribution without creating an account. And you can always catch up in the offering basket at Mass.

Thank you for supporting our St. Pius X Parish Community with your Time, Talent and Treasure now and throughout the year!

(Don’t fret if you like ketchup on a hot dog. Father Burke Masters, chaplain to the Cubs,

assures us it is only a venial sin.)

SAVE THE DATE! Mark your calendars NOW for our “Picnic Luncheon” scheduled for June 11. We will meet in Church at 11:30 am followed by lunch in the Martha Room. Check upcoming bulletins for updates.

THANK YOU The VIP’s wish to thank the 8th Grade teachers, parents, and graduating students for our very wonderful luncheon. It was truly enjoyed by everyone. God’s Peace and Love to All!

Perhaps you have been approached by a person outside of church, asking for money for food or bus fare. It is hard to know how to respond in such a situation. That person might be truly in need. You want to be compassionate, to be a Good Samaritan, especially when you’ve just come out of church. But you also don’t want to make a mistake and be taken advantage of. One way to respond is to direct the person in need to our St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. It is organized to help people with more than just a one-time handout. It can provide bags of groceries, bus passes and gift cards in accordance with SVdP guidelines. The Food Pantry is at Door 8 of the church, on the east side near the playground. A sign on the door lists the Food Pantry hours and a telephone number for help.

Food Pantry hours: Mondays 9:30am – 11:30 am Wednesdays 10:00am – 11:30 am Fridays 9:30am – 11:30 am For assistance at any other time, a message can be left at 630-300-4353. The Food Pantry is one way we respond as a community to the problems of hunger and poverty. When someone asks you for help, send them there. They will get real help. And if your compassion leads you to want to do more than that, the St. Vincent de Paul Society welcomes your donations of time, non perishable food or money.

¿Amas a Dios?
