Sympathy

Our sincere condolences to Mrs O’Connor on the sudden passing of her uncle. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.

Mrs O’Connor has lost 2 family members in 3 weeks.

For those who remember Mrs Myra Gabb—our condolences to Mrs Gabb on the passing of her dad (Barry McDonald).

Eternal rest grant unto them O’Lord and may perpetual light shine on them. May their souls rest in peace. Amen

Well parents have a truly wonderful, relaxing break for 2 weeks. Please be careful and safe if travelling.

Remember “Arise each morning cheerfully and forget the disappointments of yesterday.”

Safe and Happy Holidays.

God be with you

McAuley’s Mufti Day

Congratulations to McAuley (red) who won this term’s house challenge. The members of McAuley are awarded with a mufti (casual clothes) day this Friday. Please remember that this does not mean we have a fashion show and many of the classes will be doing sport, so please dress appropriately. Winter Sports Trials Last week we had 13 students travel to Bathurst to trial for Diocesan sporting teams. From these trials we had two students gain selection in Bathurst teams. We had Georgie Conway make it in to the netball side and Will Schwager the opens rugby league team. We wish the best of luck at the Polding trials in Tamworth. Thanks to all those who took part last week and to the parents who drove them. Greg Cant

Library News

Premiers Reading Challege The holidays provide a great chance to encourage children to read for the PRC. Keep in mind the importance of continued reading practice to prevent the children’s reading skills from slipping. A visit to the Premier Reading Challenge site will provide you with great suggestions for age-appropriate books to read. Thank you, Bernadette O’Shaughnessy Teacher/Librarian

School Cross Country Congratulations once again to McAuley who continued their domination of the school cross country event, three years in a row now. The team events: McAuley won the nine years and under (Paddy Cant, Darby Amor, Ella Penman), 10 years champions were Moore (Millie Gooch, Brock Cameron, Charlotte Foody), 11 years champions were McAuley (Joey Cant, Tom Coady, Zac Williams) and the 12 year champions were also McAuley (Will Schwager, Molly Niemeyer, Clancy Holmes-Smith). The individual champions were: Zac Gooch, Mila Hutchins, Joe Edwards, Maegan Cameron, Paddy Cant, Ella Penman, Jack Atkins, Millie Gooch, Joey Cant, Clancy Niemeyer, Sam Taylor, Maddi Croft. The runner’s up and third place getters were: Zac Mears, Dustin Picton, Chloe Leonard, Heidi Connolly, Ty Henderson, Riley Hall, Sienna Angus, Ruby Zell, Ned Jones, Darby Amor, Macey Niemeyer, Emma Pobje, Brock Cameron, Caleb Dodd, Clare Amor, Abby Jones, Tom Coady, Eli Hausia, Lily Usher, Eryn Beattie, Will Schwager, Connor Angus, Georgie Conway, Molly Niemeyer. Thanks to all staff who sat in the sun in the middle of the oval for over an hour supervising the runners. Thanks also to those parents who were able to attend to show support. Diocesan (Coolah) Cross Country A note has been sent out to all students selected for the Diocesan Cross Country in Coolah (top four boys and girls in each of the age groups), this carnival will be held on Monday 5th May (back-up 20th May). For this event we will be sharing a bus with St Mary’s Primary and St John’s Primary. Students going to Coolah are representing St Pius X at a Diocesan event so all students will need FULL SPORTS UNIFORM (includes school hat). Incorrect uniform will result in a demerit, thank you parents we appreciate your support in this area. Students will need to bring on the day: tracksuit, drink bottle, sunscreen, recess and lunch (canteen will be operating on the day). If parents would like to take something to sit on it is advised as we will be situated on an oval with no seating. Some students have mentioned that they “do not want to go”. If so we will need a note signed by a parent stating this.

Sharon Taylor and Lisa Hunt (coordinators)

Thank you to all those who have enrolled for First Communion. If you have forgotten, you need to leave your envelope at the Parish Office before this Friday, April 11th. Remember the importance of attending Mass, especially during the

children’s preparation for this very special sacrament they are about to receive. Remember Family Groups will begin week 2 next term Next week Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday. The students have been spending quite a bit of

time within their religion lessons learning about this very special time within our Church calendar so will be keen to experience the celebrations at St Brigid’s. The times for Masses etc. are in the church bulletin which is available online or listed below. At school each class will be praying the Stations of the Cross throughout the week. Lord our God, we thank and praise you for the greatness of your love, shown to us in Jesus Christ, who was willing to die for us, to bring us into your family, and to bless us with the life that lasts forever. We pray for our families, our friends, and all those we care about: fill them with hope and happiness. We pray for a happy holiday time, for safety for those who travel and for continuing growth in faith and hope and love. Some important dates this term for RE include: Week 11 – Holy Week liturgy – The Stations of the Cross. St Brigid’s Sacramental Calendar 2014 First Holy Communion (Year 3)
