Dear Friends: As we enter our second year at St. Pius X within “Dominican Village”, Amityville we want to express our deepest gratitude for your support and for helping to make this first year a wonderful experience for our priests. We have shared so many grand times here at St. Pius X and we have hosted several festive events, not only for the residents but also for our wider Church community. We have truly mourned and prayed for the loss of four brother priest residents who died: Fa- thers Basil Colasito, Francis Hourihane, William Dailey, Edward Sullivan. They are truly missed so please keep them and us in prayer. This residence has been a tremendous boost in meeting the needs of our priests. They are receiving the necessary care to improve their quality of life and are very grateful that they are able to take advantage of this completely accessible facility. We invite you to come visit (631 608 2622) and see for yourself this comfortable home your generosity has made possible and which helps meet the needs of our priests requiring extra care. You have truly helped us care for those who have cared for us! Sincerely Yours in Christ, Rev. Msgr. Thomas Mulvanerty Spring/Summer 2010

Dear Friends:

As we enter our second year at St. Pius X within “Dominican Village”, Amityville we want to express our deepest gratitude for your support and for helping to make this fi rst year a wonderful experience for our priests.

We have shared so many grand times here at St. Pius X and we have hosted several festive events, not only for the residents but also for our wider Church community. We have truly mourned and prayed for the loss of four brother priest residents who died: Fa-thers Basil Colasito, Francis Hourihane, William Dailey, Edward Sullivan.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Rev. Msgr. Thomas Mulvanerty

Spring/Summer 2010

The completely accessible facility includes a Chapel, a lounge, and a dining room capable of serving our residents and guests.

A Tour of PIUS X

Each bedroom suite includes a living room, bedroom, private bathroom with a wheelchair accessible shower stall and a walk-in closet.

All of the spaces have access to the facilities’ amenities, including scheduled transportation as well as admittance to other common areas such as the computer learning center, library, physical therapy, activity and game room.

On April 2, 2009 Bishop William Murphy blessed the PIUS X residence. “It was

the guidance of the Holy Spirit that brought us here,” said Bishop Murphy

“We give thanks to God for this wonderful facility - it is a place fi lled with joy and happiness.”

The Bishop also thanked the resident priests for their years as “Shepherds” of

God’s people in the Diocese.

Preceding the blessing of the facility, residents, guests - including many priests from our Diocese, enjoyed lunch together.

Bishop William Murphy Blesses the Pius X Residence

Priesthood means everything to me – I knew I wanted to be a priest at age 9 – and St. Pius X Residence allows me to concelebrate Eucharist every day in our own Chapel.-- Msgr. Thomas Hartman

It’s a source of stability and security in my golden years.-- Msgr. John Skelly

After the blessings of each apartment and common areas, the

residents returned to their rooms and

welcomed everyone for a grand tour.

The attentive staff and aides assist with serving meals, dressing, other hygiene related issues as well as on-call nursing assistance as needed.

Prayer for our Retired Priests

O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priests. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love

which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.In their loneliness, comfort them. In their sorrows, strengthen them.

In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show them that they are needed by the Church; they are needed by souls;

they are needed for the work of redemption. For More Information about PIUS X, please call 516-379-5210 ext. 229 or visit the web site at www.drvc.org
