All are welcome! Principal Headliner May 2017 .Principal Headliner, May 2017 I have a little figure of a ship on the shelf in my office. It is made of wood and rests upright on a stand with an even keel. An “even keel”…I feel a metaphor com- ing on. On the sail it reads “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.” … An “even keel”… Today is Tuesday, May 02, 2017 I write this Messenger article, as we enter one of the busiest months of our school year. We’ve got field trips, the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation, golf and track and field, a Mothers’ Tea and an 8 th Grade Mass with our Bishop, our New Family Orientation and the last Saturday Workday…AND our End-of- Year Swim Celebration at a NEW location and even our parish picnic on Sunday, June 4…Whooo! I feel both exhausted and exhilarated just thinking about how close is the school year’s end. We will all need so much energy…so much positive, hopeful, loving life, joyful energy as we move through this month, our Holy Mother, Mary’s month of May. How can we step away from the activity and noise of our busy-ness. How can we still the “busy” sounds that, by evening time, home, sleeping children, and the welcome moment of quiet, the quiet is almost its own form of loud. In that loud silence is the stillness we all seek in order to balance the busy-ness and com- motion of our lives. It is in this same silence that we might hear, “Be still and know that I am God.” This is the God who created all that energy and sound, who provided us with the gift of each other, friends, family, voices with which to sing, hands to clap, legs with which to run, walk, dance, hop…, smiles for giving away, silence to think and pray, hearts for loving, and eyes for taking it all in. Imagine the breeze or the wind if you will, that pro- pels that sailboat through the water. If handled with expertise and care, it often comes back to its even keel as it is steered over waves, changes directions, and makes the best of the wind in the sails. The keel gives the boat stability both in action and at rest. May you find your own even keel as this school year comes to a close and the summertime reveals its own energy and sound. May you find restful waters in your lives, to be still and know God. May 2017 Issue From the Principal’s Desk: Ms. Suzanne Smoley
