This week end we celebrate Trinity Sunday and Memorial Day.
On Trinity Sunday, we celebrate the mystery of the Trinity, one
of the deepest mysteries of our faith. The mystery of three
persons in one God, yes the Father, who is the creator, the Son,
who is the redeemer, and the Holy Spirit, who is the counselor.
These three persons are distinct as persons but yet one God.
They are unique in their role in salvation history yet all have
been together for eternity. Their oneness is unique in that each
one is a separate person, but one Godhead, a mystery of our faith.
Monday, we celebrate Memorial Day, a day on which we as a
nation remember our war dead. This holiday was started in the
southern states after the Civil War to remember the war dead of
the Confederacy Troops. This was later made a holiday on which
the war dead of the nation and of all wars are remembered. We
remember those who gave the supreme sacrifice of their lives so
that we could be free and enjoy the life styles we have. So let us
pray and take time out this weekend to remember that Memorial
Day is in honor of our war dead as we enjoy our family
barbeques and gatherings.
God Bless,
Fr. Rich
