Today’s Meditation The core vocation in the Gospel of Mark is the vocation, or call, to discipleship. Today’s Gospel passage provides us with one last example of what the vocation to discipleship means, and one example of what it doesn’t mean. A destitute widow shows us that discipleship means following Jesus’ way of service, even if it requires giving
one’s livelihood (or life). The scribes show us by their bad example that discipleship should entail a vocation to extend God’s care to those who are most in need. In our reading from the book of Kings another widow and her son are close to death. They too give what little they have, but they are rewarded by Elijah with food enough for a year. And the reading from the Letter to the Hebrews reminds us that Jesus sacrificed his life “to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him” (Hebrews 9:28). Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
We Welcome all Visitors!
Welcome to St. Stanislaus Parish. We are happy you chose to be with us today. If you are traveling, we pray for your safe journey. If you live in the Wilmington area, we hope you will return soon to worship with us.
Our Mission Statement
In recognition of God’s love and presence in every human being, the members of Saint Stanislaus Parish embrace the challenge to serve God and all His people. In fellowship with one another, we nurture our Catholic Faith through the celebration of the sacraments and reflection on the word of God. As a welcoming and culturally diverse Faith Community, we strive to proclaim and live the good News of Jesus Christ while providing for the spiritual and physical needs of those less fortunate.
Update for 2018 If you have placed a loved one on our prayer list and they are now no longer in need of prayers please call Rebecca in the office to have their name removed so that we may update our prayer list. If you have someone to add to the list you may also call Rebecca to add them. Thank you.
May all those in need of our prayers and their caretakers
feel God’s Love for them!

Social Ministries Giving Tree
Our Social Ministries will be setting up the Giving Tree in the Gathering Area on Saturday, November 24th. Once ready, we ask you to take a tag and fulfill the wishes of a child in need (boys and girls ages 1-12). We are requesting that all gifts NOT BE WRAPPED but be put in Christmas gift bags, along with
the gift tag. This year especially we need to help those less fortunate to have a joyful and peaceful Christmas.
Please return your gifts to the Giving Tree within two weeks so that we may distribute them well before Christmas.
Many thanks, as always.
