“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Mt 25:40). Today, we are reminded that Jesus identified himself with our poorest brothers and sisters. The
Catholic Relief Services Collection serves Jesus in
the victims of human trafficking, those who suffer from unjust laws, and those who need pastoral care and humanitarian assistance across the globe. Through supporting today’s collections, you help
Jesus in disguise. Please be generous.
Your Help is Really,
Really Needed
Our Bingo will not be sustainable without more volunteers. Our Bingo
generates, on average, approximately $75,000 per year for the Parish. We would hate to lose this revenue source. We need your help now to keep the Bingo operating. You can get a group together of 4 or 5 and form a team or we can combine you with a team. This team would work together once a month or even once every other month (depending on the number of teams). Bingo is on Tuesday nights from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Please consider volunteering at your Parish Bingo to help support your Church and School. Please contact Tom at 922-5122 or [email protected]. St. Teresa Bingo needs your help. Thank you.

First Holy Communion Please keep our First Communicants in your prayers as they continue preparing for the Sacrament.
St. Teresa First Communion will be May 1 at 2:00pm. St. William First Communion will be April 16 at the 3:30 Mass.

St. Teresa of Avila Parish
Cincinnati, OH April 10, 2016
Dear Family of St. Teresa,
As we celebrate the Third Sunday of Easter we
experience in the Gospel one of the most wonderful parallels and conversions of heart and forgiveness. The
Apostles encounter Jesus by the shore after the
Resurrection, they are catching nothing as they fish and Jesus invites them not to give up but to broaden their search.
They do so and they find that by trusting the Lord’s
invitation and not giving up they found exactly what they
were looking for. As they approach Jesus and engage in conversation with him he asks Peter, “do you Love Me” and
he asks not once but three times. Jesus wants Peter’s answer
to the question not just be a surface response but an in-depth statement of Love and commitment. His asking three times
also echo’s Peter’s denial of Christ where each time he was
asked, “do you know him” Peter’s response became more emotional and more selfish. Now we see that fear promotes
a selfish act and a coward’s response yet Love promotes
selfless giving and commitment. Thus, Jesus, in his asking,
helps Peter not only to look beyond his fearful denials but realize in love for Christ he finds forgiveness and a new
chance to begin his life and ministry with Jesus again by
“feeding his sheep”. Whatever old ways of fear are in our past, the Lord is
inviting us to deeply and sincerely respond to the question,
“do you Love me”. He is asking us over and over again and
allowing us to truly measure the commitment we are making in relationship with him. To not just say “I love you” but to
honestly mean “I love you with all that I am and will do all
that you ask” and as a result experience that new chance to build a loving relationship with God, sincerely, honestly,
deeply and committedly.
I ran across a prayer this week that I would like to share with all of you regarding this very Gospel message:
Lord, you turned to Peter at the lakeside and asked, “Do
you Love me?” We answer with him, “Yes, Lord, we do”,
but our love is so small and so measured. Far beyond our love for you, though, is your love for us and it is our only
hope. You created a rock from a weak and sinful man.
Create in us a loving heart, and give us a new spirit. Amen. Have a wonderful week and may our Loving God bless
all of us with an unending and enduring sense of love for
each other and for Him. God Bless, Fr. Mike
Upcoming Diaconate Ordination
Please keep our 19 current candidates in formation in your
prayers as they prepare for ordination into the permanent
diaconate on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Our Lady of the
Immaculate Conception Church in Dayton. Also, please
pray for our three transitional deacons as well.
Third Sunday of Easter April 10 Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41 Psalm 30 Revelation 5:11-14 John 21:1-19 Fourth Sunday of Easter April 17 Acts 13:14, 43-52 Psalm 100 Revelation 7:9, 14b-17 John 10:27-30 Mercy or loving kindness reveals itself in today’s Gospel. Today we see it in the risen Lord directing his friends to discover a happier ending to their long night of unsuccessful fishing. With a little imagination, we smell it in the fresh fish Jesus is cooking on a charcoal fire for his friends. And, if the longer version of today’s Gospel is read well, we will clearly hear loving mercy in Jesus’ encounter with Simon Peter during their post-breakfast walk, as Jesus gently leads Simon to replace his three earlier denials with three professions of love. God’s mercy, embodied in Jesus, invites us to respond: First, by witnessing to Jesus as our leader and savior as courageously as the apostles did by obeying God’s will as we come to know it; secondly, by joining in the chorus of praise and thanksgiving that unites “every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea”, and to cry out to the One who sits on the throne and to the Lamb “blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever” (Revelation 5:13). On April 10 we will be singing the Missa Pacem which begins on number 271 of the Blue Gather. On April 17 we will be singing the Mass of Redemption which begins on page 9 in the Missalette. St. Vincent de Paul Reflection: O God, open our eyes to recognize You in the poor, in creation, and in one another. Please remember our Society with your prayers and donations.
Anyone in need of prayers can call the Parish Office or Cherie Frey (coordinator) at 921-1251. We have a “Holy Hour for the Dying” every Tuesday morning after the 7am Mass. If you can’t join us, please call and let us include the names of your relatives and friends who are sick and dying in our prayers. Call Ruth @ 251-4770 to leave their names.
