September 2, 2018 Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Parishioners, I am sure that we have all been affected at some level by the news of the mis-conduct by priests in the Church and the way in which this was covered up for years. I have heard from many of you who have known some of those impli-cated, or known of others who knew some of the priests who were named. Many hearts have been broken and lives shattered as a result of the crimes of these men. We cling to our Faith and pray the Lord will bring sorely needed healing and peace to the lives of those who have suffered so much. We wonder what we can do -- what can be done? I would like to invite you to join me and the other priests at Saint Theresa in a novena to our Sorrowful Mother. We will begin the novena after Masses on First Friday, September 7, and conclude the novena after the morning Mass on Saturday, September 15, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. For those unable to attend daily Mass, the novena prayers are available in the back of the church for private recitation at home -- or wherever you may wish to pray. Let us pray that our Lady will intercede for our Church and for all those who have been affected by this terrible tragedy. Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us! Sincerely in Christ,

URS—The High School Youth Group (9th graders - 12th grade)
What is the Upper Room Squad (URS)? It is teen led, teen organized, teen fo-cused with FOOD, FUN, FELLOWSHIP and FAITH! We meet on most Sunday nights and the event runs from 6-8pm. The night starts with an enthu-siastic opening prayer! Then we do an ice breaker or a fun game to get kicked off right! After a "mildly com-petitive" game - that is always different each week - the teens go over to the church. While at the church the group breaks into groups of 5-7 peo-ple. In those groups the teen leaders guide what we call a "Gospel Contem-plation." The GC is a passage from the Old or New Testament which is read and considered in light of the Good News of Jesus Christ. The questions and discussions are always a powerful experience of fellowship and faith for both the younger and older teens to encounter Jesus Christ! During the GC there is usually a priest available for Confessions, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, healing and growth! To conclude their time at the church the group gets back to-gether and heads to the upper room (the choir loft) of the church for a talk by one of our adult leaders, or a visit-ing speaker, and a testimony from one of our teens. The night ends with more fellowship and pizza back over in the cafeteria. Would you like to be ‘REMIND’ed of upcoming events for URS: To receive messages via text, text @upperrooms to 81010.
