GOD LOVES

A CHEERFUL GIVER

2 Corinthians 9:6-7

From Father Phil

Dear Parishioners, Parents, and Friends of St. Theresa,

In wishing you again a Happy New Year, I want to thank you for your gen-erosity to both our church and school. Your commitment to all aspects of parish life makes possible the praise of God, the extending of our care to face issues offensive to the dignity of humankind and to the deepening of our knowledge of the world and into the mystery of our Creator.

Inside of this bulletin, you will find out the budget and actual results for 2017-2018 fiscal year (July through June), the budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019.

As we see our campus change I am filled with gratitude for the generosity of those of you that have made this possible financially. Thank you. I am impressed by the numbers that worship with us in our temporary sacred space, the gym, week after week and the fact that the school has grown to 322 students, a growth of over 130 students since Ms. Ilski became principal. Under Melanie Leadingham, the Early Childhood Center contin-ues to run at almost full capacity. As President Kennedy said: "Children are our greatest resource and its best hope for the future." Under the pro-tection of our patron, St. Theresa of Lisieux, may we be blessed in contin-uing to form young hearts, minds, and bodies.

As a parish we have celebrated 118 baptisms; 61 first communions; 51 confirmations; 50 students participated in Vacation Bible School; 189 in Faith Formation and 20 in Youth ministry. Church Youth Sports program supported over 223 children in soccer; basketball and t-ball. We held two Engaged Couples Workshops, with 22 and 34 couples attending each workshop. Our five masses every weekend continue to be celebrated with love and awe; along with our weekday Masses, Adoration, and Reconcilia-tion.

We fell short of our stewardship during the early summer of 2018, but with the extra generosity of our donors, the parish continued to do God's work. With your help and the professionalism in our finance and pastoral staff, under the recent direction of Enrique Benitez, Parish Manager, we are striving to be good stewards of the money that you entrust to our use. Together we have worked wisely and prudently to keep the 2017-2018 actual expenses under the amount that was budgeted. It is because of your donations, tuition, and other contributions which allow us to fund our programs and ministries illustrated in the accompanying charts.

St. Francis of Assisi was asked by God to rebuild his church, that is cer-tainly happening here in our parish in the park. Along with the buildings, new and renewed, I hope and pray that together with our minds and hearts be renewed so that we become "like living stones, being build into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices ac-ceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:5.

As your pastor, please pray for me, that together we: "Miss no single op-portunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love." St. Theresa of Lisieux.

With every good wish,

Fr. Phil
