on Oct. 27:

I want to express my deepest sense of sorrow

for the shocking display of hatred and vio-

lence that took place in Pittsburgh on Satur-

day. The motivation to take precious and in-

nocent life is difficult to understand. I pray

for the many victims and for everyone who

TRAINING :

At the first al-

tar s e rver

training ses-

sion, Deacon

Dan reviewed some of the offi-

cial terms of the church’s holy

items. The next meeting will be

Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10

& 11 , after each Mass. If you

have children who currently

serve, please bring them to

these sessions to brush up on

the roles altar servers have at

each Mass. This is a great

time to learn and/or review

certain procedures.

We will be renewing our commit-

ments to the parish on Parish

Stewardship weekend, No-

vember 10-11. When you give

to the parish you support our

ministries and help to provide

for our spiritual home. Chris-

tian stewardship is a year round

activity in which we recognize

our gifts from God, share them

in generosity with others, and

return our gifts with increase to

the Lord. We are asked to

prayerfully consider what God

may be asking of each of us, giv-

en in a spirit of joy, either in

time in prayer, talent, or treas-

ure. Next week, we will be col-

lecting the forms from the bot-

tom of the flyer that is included

in this bulletin. Please call the

office if you have any questions.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all

who so generously donated the

women’s personal items over

the past few months to support

trafficked women. The items

were taken to the deanery

meeting last week by Jean Chi-

aro and donated.

REFLECTION ON THE TRINITY:

Making Sense of Three Persons in

One God

The Saint Therese

Adult Education pre-

sents speaker Michael

Terheyden on Monday,

November 5, 2018 6:00

p.m.-8:00 p.m. If you

are the kind of person

who wants to understand your faith on

a deeper level, then this reflection is for

you. It will last approximately forty

minutes and include a lecture on being,

understanding infinity, and how God’s

knowledge and love of Himself logically

gives rise to the Trinity. Questions,

discussion, and snacks to follow.

BYZANTINE CATHOLIC

CHURCH PRESENTATION:

Rev Richard Armstrong will

be the featured speaker at the St

Joseph CCW meeting on Novem-

ber 12 at 7:00 PM in the St Jo-

seph Social Hall. Father will

speak about The Byzantine

C a t h o l i c C h u r c h -

es. The one Catholic Church is a

communion of more than twenty

individual churches. Each

church within the Catholic com-

munion has its own liturgy, spir-

ituality, discipline, and theologi-

cal emphasis. While most Chris-

tians in the United States are

familiar with the Latin (Roman)

Catholic Church, this session

will introduce participants to

some of the other Catholic

Churches. Particular emphasis

will be placed on exploring the

differences and complementarity

between the Latin and Byzantine

Rites. St Joseph CCW invites all

St Therese parishioners (men,

women, and children) to join us

for this look at the Byzantine

Catholic Churches.. Your friends

and neighbors are welcome, also.

Babysitting and refreshments

will be provided.

WOMEN'S RETREAT-

THE FEMININE GENIUS:

This three-day retreat for women will focus on Pope Saint John Paul II's writings titled "The Dignity and Vocation of Women." Fr. David Mary Engo, FFM, will lead women through this beautiful document by the Pope. There will be plenty of time for prayer, reflection, quiet con-templation, and socialization with other women striving to live the Gospel in today's world. This weekend event, held at the Christ Prince of Peace Retreat Center in Benton, Tenn., begins 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and ends Sunday, Dec. 8. Visit dioknox.org/calendar for registration forms, contact information, and a complete schedule of events.

Married Couples: The tiny investment of a WWME week-end will pay dividends your whole married life! Learn how to grow closer by joining us at an upcoming Worldwide Mar-riage Encounter weekend. The next Weekends are November

16-18 and March 1-3. You can get more infor-mation or apply online at GATN-wwme.org or by calling 678-242-WWME.

ATTENTION ALL TEENS!!

Our teenagers are exposed to so much in school: peer circles, and

social media including suicide, drugs and drink-ing, sex, abuse, killings, gay “marriage”, gender confusion and the list goes on. Isn’t it time we expose them to the treasures of their Catholic faith, such as Eucharistic miracles, incorruptible Saints, chastity, God’s plan for marriage, the power of the sacrament of confession, the evil of abortion, apologetics, and powerful conversion stories?

Catholic Teens United is a new program starting up in the Diocese of Knoxville for our Catholic teens, from 8th grade to college. We will be meeting monthly at area parishes to expose our teens to the truth of Catholicism, empower them to make an impact on our world through prayer in Eucharistic Adoration, and help them grow in holiness through the sacrament of Confession.

Our first CTU gathering is Sunday, November 11 from 12 noon –2 pm at Saint John Neumann in th gym. We have an excellent speaker, Jimmy Mitchell, to kick off our program. Jimmy is an inspirational speaker out of Nashville, who is very involved with Life Teen and has traveled the world running Life Teen camps in 3 continents. Pizza will be provided. Tell your friends and come see what it’s all about!
