  • Improving the lives of those in need working to end poverty and homelessness

    one person at a time.

PresenterPresentation NotesAssistance. Shelter. Hope. Three simple words that make a big difference in lives of more than 100,000 individuals in our Dayton community who are homeless or living in poverty.

  • Can you help me?

PresenterPresentation NotesEvery day St. Vincent de Paul receive phone calls from someone who asks, Can you help me? My utilities are being shut off. Im being evicted. My kids are sleeping on the floor. I cant feed my family.

  • St. Vincent de Pauls 36 Conferences, run by more than 900 volunteers, provide more than$2 million each year in cash and in-kind assistance to keep families in their homes.

  • Our main food pantry, located next to the Montgomery County Job Center, is the largest in the Dayton community and serves up to 1,000 households every month.

PresenterPresentation NotesOur 9 satellite food pantries, mostly in Catholic parishes, meet the needs of families in their neighborhoods who are food insecure.

  • Partnering with US Veterans Affairs Administration, our Supportive Services for Veteran Families program is working to bring homelessness among veteran households to virtual zero.

PresenterPresentation NotesPartnering with US Veterans Affairs Administration, our Supportive Services for Veteran Families program is working to bring homelessness among veteran households to virtual zero. Recently we helped a 61 year-old Vietnam veteran (Billy) get an apartment and a manufacturing job. His SSVF case manager made a huge impact on his life: He started off as my case manager but became my friend. He helped me to get my life back on track together. He did not give up on me and I will always be thankful to him.

  • St. Vincent de Pauls two Community Stores offer affordable household and clothing items for low income families.

PresenterPresentation NotesOver half of the items in the stores are given back to the community through our voucher program at no cost to the client.

  • Since 1985, St. Vincent de Paul has provided shelter to homeless individuals and families more than 3,000,000 times. We started 31 years ago in an old fire station and now operate two 24/7 facilities providing 130,000 units of shelter each year to more than 4,000 men, women, and children.

PresenterPresentation NotesWe offer compassionate care, three meals a day, the ability to shower and have clean clothes, and access to housing focused case management. Our goal is to restore dignity for those homeless individuals struggling with mental health, alcohol or drug addiction, generational poverty, abuse, or unemployment. We work each and every day to provide guidance that leads our clients to self-sustaining lives.

  • For clients with significant barriers we offer supportive housing with on-site case management at the DePaul Center for homeless men, Kettering Commons for homeless households with disabilities, and Safe Haven for adults with serious mental health issues.

  • Support St. Vincent de Paul financially. $.88 out of every dollar donated to St. Vincent de Paul goes directly to support our programs and services.

Donate household items, clothing, and toiletries. Our donation door located at the Gateway Shelter on West Apple St. is open 24 hours a day. Or call us at 222-5555 to arrange a pick-up of your large household items.

Donate your vehicle. Its a simple process, and the proceeds from the sale of your car, motorcycle or boat directly support our programs and services.

PresenterPresentation NotesHere is where you come in and how you can help us make a difference.

  • Volunteer at one of our facilities. More than 2,000 volunteers make a difference each year at St. Vincent de Paul by serving or preparing meals, answering the phones, helping with laundry or special projects.

Invite us to speak at your place of worship, place of employment, or to your community group.

Participate in one of our annual fundraising events, whether it is our Spring 5K, golf outing, or Mission Gala.
