For those who might be considering PREP for their child here is the curriculum that we follow as a guideline set forth by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. If you go to the Dioc-esan web page you will be able to read the detailed curricu-lum. Thanks for all the support you give PREP and thanks to all the parishioners who read these happenings.

CURRICULUMGrade 1 - God loves us and we are special in the eyes of our Creator. The students learn that Jesus died and rose to new life, and that each person is a vital part of a parish community.

Grade 2 - The students prepare for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. They study the sacraments of Baptism, Eu-charist, and Confirmation and the lives of our Saints and the Blessed Mother.

Grade 3 - The students learn about the basic prayers and under-stand that the Mass is the center of our religious belief. Grade 4 - Students learn how God’s laws guide us and teaches us to respond to the call of holiness. They learn that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light. The Commandments, Precepts of the Church, the lives of saints, feasts, devotions, and Catholic practices are taught. Grade 5 -Students learn that Jesus shares His life and mission with us through the celebration of the seven sacraments. The definition, meaning, symbols, and minister of each sacrament is studied.

Grade 6 - The curriculum concentrates on preparing the stu-dents for their reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation in Grade 7. The year also focuses on the study of the Old Testa-ment as the root of our Catholic faith. There is a direct connec-tion made between what is required learning for Confirmation and how this Sacrament is rooted in the Bible. The Person of Jesus is explored and the need for service above self is stressed.

Grade 7 - The students focus on their sacramental life, on build-ing a strong relationship with God through prayer and com-munity service. The connection of the Creed, Church History, New and Old Testament, and Liturgy of the Word are presented. The students attend their Confirmation retreat, complete their service hours, delve deep into the life of the Saint they have chosen for their Confirmation name and become the presenters of the parish SAINT MUSEUM. Our hope is that they more fully understand their responsibilities as members of the Catho-lic Church. All this is done to help the students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
