The Maryland Ensemble Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit professionally operated and artistically accredited arts organization that has enriched and entertained more than half a million people since 1993. Every year the MET produces thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment, theatre camps and classes, artist residency programs for public schools, and dozens of special events.
Through our wide ranging work and prolific programming our reach expands to all demographics. Kids and teens enjoy our Fun Company productions, Fun Camps, In-School Productions, Ensemble School classes and community collaborations. Families return each year for our production of A Christmas Carol and Mainstage classics. While adults of all ages enroll in our Ensemble School, pack our Mainstage shows and take in our late night offerings like the Comedy Pigs and Laugh Station.
Last year alone the MET produced over 200 events including:
• 96 Mainstage Performances
• 24 Fun Company Performances
• 3 Touring Shows (A Christmas Carol, Finally Heard, Young Olympians)
• 24 Comedy Pigs performances
• 6 performances of our community collaboration with FCC
• 13 two week camps for kids age 7-16
• 6 twelve week Ensemble School classes
• 6 twelve week In-School Productions programs
• 34 MET-X Performances
• Retro Prom and numerous special events.
Last year, more than 20,000 people saw a MET theatrical performance or participated in a MET program.
From our Capital Campaign chair. As a long time supporter of the Maryland Ensemble Theatre I’m thrilled to serve as the chair for this exciting new endeavor.
The arts are integral to any community and no organization produces more performing arts in Frederick than Maryland Ensemble. This new STAGE2 performance venue will provide the family theatre its own space, it will also provide classrooms for the Ensemble School and Fun Camps. The space will simply provide the opportunity for more families to participate in the wonderful programming the MET provides.
Performance arts programming for children is something that is easy to champion. Something that I am proud to be associated with and should be attractive to potential funders. Raising the $100,000 to cover the costs of acquiring and outfitting the new space is an achievable accomplishment. MET is non-profit arts organization with a proven track record. They have served our community for over fifteen years with excellence and this new space will provide MET the opportunity to better serve Frederick.
I’m proud to support MET and I hope you will consider joining me.
In gratitude,Dr. Mark A. Pitts Capital Committee Chair
“MET strives to create a positive environment where artists and audience share an exciting, emotional, thought provoking theatre experience for our times and our community. STAGE2 is important as it will provide a space for our educational and family programming.”

STAGE2is 1,700 square feet of office space previously occupied by Volunteer Frederick. The space adjoins Maryland Ensemble’s current offices located in the lower level of the former FSK Hotel.
Through the efforts of this capital campaign the space will be completely transformed into a new performance venue known tentatively as STAGE2.
While being a flexible playing space STAGE2 will primarily service educational programing including the Youth Ensemble, Ensemble School Performances and the Fun Company, MET’s family theatre.
