Seven Variations of Change
• Horizontal– CV 1 – Fine TUNE
• Thinking and assumptions remain essentially the same, but techniques and information improve
– CV 2 – Expand OUT • Elaborate basic vMEME system to include more contents and flesh
out its repertoire. Form of enrichment, enhancement and development.
• Oblique– CV 3 – Stretch DOWN
• Stay in basic vMEME position while reawakening earler vMEME systems on a temporary basis in an attempt to deal with a pressing situation.
– CV4 – Stretch UP• Dominant thinking stays in original vMEME position but incorporates
elements of some more complex vMEMEs.
Seven Variations of Change
• Vertical– CV 5 – Break OUT
• Characterizes REVOLUTIONS, generally used to attack barriers that need to be blown away and reforming to something anew.
– CV 6 – UP Shift • Describes a shift in the critical mass from one vMEME level
to the next on the Spiral, generally in the form of an EVOLUTIONARY change as a new layers is added.
– CV 7 – QUANTUM• There is a movement in a number of vMEMEs at the same
time. Integral to successful nation-building, community integration and functioning in a global marketplace. Seen in era-like shifts like the Industrial Revolution or Information Age.
Themes of Change
• Horizontal– Spiral itself remains stable
• Oblique– Some inter-vMeme turbulence
• Vertical– Shifts from vMeme to vMeme

The Yin & The Yang
• EXPRESS SELF– Individual/Elite Pole
I, ME, MINETake charge, make changes, move against nature, control the external world, rely on the power of self
EXPLORE THE OUTSIDE
DIVERSITY GENERATING
CENTERED INTERNALLY
• SACRIFICE SELF– Communal/Collective PoleWE, US, OURS
Accept the inevitable, live within natures constraints, focus on coming to peace with who one is, seek authority from outside
FIX THE OUTSIDECONFORMITY GENERATINGCENTERED EXTERNALLY
Tier 1 v/s Tier 2
• How systems get awakened– Systems are awakened – based on Life Conditions –
Time, Place, Problems, Circumstances, Capacities to process the intelligences
• Normal human brain comes with Latent systems– systems need to be turned on
• Tier 1 v/s Tier 2 bell curves
So what do we have here?• Human Nature is not fixed• We have natural capacities to construct new conceptual worlds• Thus we have the Spiral with its prime directive being to maintain
the health of the spiral• Healthy (Transcend and include), Unhealthy (Transcend and
Eradicate) • We have “complex adaptive intelligences” – that respond to natural
concepts of– Regeneration,– Renewal, and– Replication
