Getting StartedThe first time you use the board, make sure you go somewhere with calm water to make it as easy as possible.

Make sure when dragging or carrying the board to the water’s edge that you do NOT drag it on the fin. This may damage the fin or fin box.

Take the board deep enough so that the fin will not hit bottom when you get on board.

Place the paddle sideways across the board, and, placing your hands on each side of the indicated marks on the pad, climb on from the side. Remember to keep equal pressure on BOTH hands as you do this.

Keeping your eyes on the horizon, and equal pressure on both hands, place one foot, then the other, onto the indicated standing points on the foam pad and stand up slowly.

Stand upright, but with slightly flexed knees, and keep your center of gravity right over both feet. Give your feet a little side to side jiggle to feel the stability of the board and get comfortable. Now off you go!

Paddling TechniqueAdjust your paddle so when the blade is completely submerged your top hand is about eye level. Longer gives more power, shorter is easier on your joints and muscles.

Place the entire blade in the water as far forward as you can, and then pull back evenly “punching” forward with your top hand.

Extend your top hand over the board so the paddle shaft is near vertical during the stroke. This will help you go straighter.

Pull back the paddle with the blade entirely submerged until it gets to your feet and then lift it out. Make long, even, rythmic strokes.

Switch sides every 4 or 5 strokes to keep the board gliding evenly forward. Make the switch as quick as possible to maintain the glide you’ve already created.

Exit the paddle cleanly from the water making minimal splash, and skim it across the surface back to the front with a fully extended bottom hand for the next stroke.

Board Manuvering

Board Features

The easy way to turn the board: Reach as far forward as possible and then take the stroke, keeping both hands low and sweeping the blade as far away from the board as possible.

Keep the sweeping motion going all the way to the tail of the board, making a clean arc all the way through.

For a faster turn, step back with one foot into a “surfer stance” which will sink the tail, and then make the same wide sweeping stroke as shown at the top of the page. This reduces board length and helps it turn faster.

Some of the boards have flip up seats so you can paddle it seated like a kayak if you get tired or simply want a change.

Carry handles allow for easy transport to the water, and easy loading on the car.

Deck bungee holds the paddle or other accessories in place so you are free to do what you like on board - like Yoga.

Using the Optional Wheel

Installing the Fin

Our optional wheel makes it easy to transport the board from your car or cabin to the water. Insert the front of the wheel (the front is indicated with an arrow and there is a small steel pin in the front) into the center opening of the fin box. You might have to give it a good shove. Then slide the wheel forward a few inches, and push the back down so it “snaps” into the box.

When you get to the beach, take the wheel out and replace with the fin.

Our boards come with a cool tool-free fin system that takes just seconds to install. Line up the front of the fin with the finbox center opening. The front has the small steel pin in it. Push this into the box. It might take a little force the first time. Slide the fin forward (this makes the board looser - further back makes it track better), and then push the back down so it snaps into place.

You’re ready to go paddling!

Drain Plug

Leashes

Storage Hatches

Check your drain plug, located in the tail of the board, is completely closed before using the board. Be careful not to over tighten and strip the threads. To open, simply twist it until the plug comes out. It has a stopper to prevent loss, but be careful that it doesn’t fall out.

It’s normal for a small amount of water to seep into the board during use. To empty the board unscrew the plug, stand the board on end and let the water drain out. Be sure to put the plug back in before storing, transport or use.

Check that the gasket seal is correctly in place before closing, and devoid of sand, grit, grass or any other objects that may compromise the seal before closing. Rinse the gasket after each use.

It is important to always use a leash so that you are tethered to your board, which acts as a flotation aid. Follow all life jacket laws for your area, as well as using the leash.

Make sure that the lid is correctly closed and that ALL the levers are in the “locked” position when the hatch is closed. Replace the bungee after closing. If the hatch is not correctly closed the hatch can leak.

To Give Your SUP a Long Life

WARNING!

• Use recommended Imagine Surf fins, screws and accessories.• Check and tighten all screws firmly. DO NOT over tighten or strip screws, as this will ruin your board.• Make sure you have no sand in your fin box before you attach the fin.• The fin uses a snap in system with no screw. Never leave the board resting on the fin.• Store your Imagine Surf board upside down, or vertically, away from direct sunlight.• Clear all sand from the hatch and check gaskets are securely in place before closing.• Regularly check your drain plug and hatches to make sure they are sealed and closed.• Transport the board deck down. Do not over tighten tie-down straps.

RECOMMENDED SUP PRACTICE:Stand Up Paddling is an extremely diverse sport with many disciplines and ability levels. As with all sports, there can be certain inherent risks. The following contains key security points to remember when using your Imagine Surf SUP board and/or Imagine Surf SUP Accessory.

• SUP can be very dangerous and physically demanding. The user of this product should understand that participating in Stand Up Paddling may involve serious injury or death.

• Children should always be under adult supervision.• Seek SUP instruction from a licensed or certified instructor.• Check your equipment prior to use for signs of wear & failure. These should be repaired or

replaced immediately and before further use.• Take time to study the conditions including sea state, tides, currents, weather conditions and

forecasts before you decide to go paddling. Beware of paddling in offshore or strong winds.• Familiarize yourself with any new location before venturing onto the water. Ask the locals to

tell you about any hazards. Beware of things such as rip currents, underwater obstacles and heavy shore break.

• Watch out for other beach users, especially swimmers and small children. Make sure you keep your board and paddle under control at all times.

• Always use appropriate protective gear and flotation devices. Wear the correct protective clothing for the conditions such as a wetsuit or a UV top.

• Make sure to stay hydrated during paddling. SUP is a physically demanding sport and dehydration can also occur in cold temperatures.

• Always use a SUP specific board leash (not supplied with board).• Watch when surfacing after falling in. The board maybe closer than first imagined due to

waves, wind, board leash, etc.• Never paddle alone.• Be aware of the conditions as they change. Always return to the beach if there is a

significant change in the conditions (i.e. wind increasing and or waves increasing).• As you learn the sport, work within your limitations and do not exceed them. • Keep these warnings, cautions and instructions for future reference.
