Our project involves the compelling intersection of art and technology.

We've combined Artiphany's exquisite animations with Daqri's 4D

Augmented Reality technology to produce a stunning new expression of

what a traditional greeting card can be.

A traditional paper card becomes a target which once recognized by the

app launched on your mobile device, produces an interactive cinematic

quality experience for the recipient. The animation appears to exist within

the same physical reality as the user. The user can interact with the

animated narrative using the touch screen functionality of the mobile

device.

Daqri is a group of free-thinking artists, scientists, and engineers who are

passionate about empowering people through advanced visual

interfaces and mobile technology experiences. Daqri 4D is the first ever

cloud-based solution for dynamically delivering, managing and measuring

immersive and tactile augmented reality experiences on mobile devices.

capabilities. Every Link works with both iPhone and Android.

Drive Smarter, Save Big - Automatic helps you make small

changes in your driving habits that can lead to huge savings on

gas over time

Automatic Calls for Help in a Crash - Crash Alert looks out for you

by automatically notifying 911* with your location in a crash. For

free.

Keep Your Engine Healthy - Automatic connects to your car's

onboard computer to decipher that little 'check engine' light and

explain exactly what's wrong.

Never Forget Where You Parked - Automatic always remembers

where you parked, so you don't have to.

Page 5: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Inspired by the idea of turning waste into wages & fresh, local

food, founders Alejandro Velez & Nikhil Arora experimented in

ultimately growing one test bucket of tasty oyster mushrooms

on recycled coffee grounds. With that one bucket, some initial

interest from Whole Foods & Chez Panisse and a $5,000 grant

from the UC Berkeley Chancellor for social innovation, they

decided to forget the corporate route, and instead, become

full-time urban mushroom farmers!

Page 6: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

We are an Anglo-Swiss partnership formed in 1998 and based in

London, the European heart of design. Our designs have won

numerous awards and are sold through selected stores

worldwide.

We are driven by giving each design its own unique character

and soul. Our brief is to create functional products that will charm

and entertain. We are passionate about design and realize that a

true black + blum product is always a joint input of our

personalities. Hopefully you will get as much enjoyment

from black + blum products as we got from designing them.

Page 7: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Boosted Boards are the world’s lightest electric

vehicles.

The ultra-light powertrain gives you the power to

climb San Francisco hills. The regenerative braking

system gives you control riding downhill and in

crowds. The intuitive, wireless remote gives you

confidence to quickly learn to ride.

It’s not only fun to ride but an excellent last mile

vehicle that’s light and small enough to carry into

the office, onto the train, or in the trunk of a car.

Page 8: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

In the $50B global motorcycle market, BRD is leading

the shift to electric by building better motorcycles -

faster, easier, prettier and cheaper than their gas

equivalents. Our first product, the RedShift, has been

called "the first electric to demonstrate a clear

superiority over its gas predecessors.“

BRD wants to make average riders good and good

riders great. We chose electric because nothing

connects your right wrist to the rear tire like an

electric motor. The throttle response can be perfect,

the torque is endless, and you don't have to "reset"

traction with each gearshift.

Page 9: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Celluon - the undisputed forerunner in portable input

applications, has its headquarters in Seoul, Korea - the country

Double is the simplest, most elegant way to be

somewhere else in the world without flying there. The

minimalist design and intuitive touchscreen controls

allow you to freely move around without

inconveniencing others.

You can stay at eye level, whether sitting or standing,

by adjusting your height remotely, which makes

conversations fluid and real. Retractable kickstands will

automatically deploy to conserve power when you are

not moving around. Efficient motors and lightweight

design give Double the ability to last all day without

recharging the battery.

Page 13: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Electric Imp makes it simple to bring the Internet to your

devices. With connectivity you can empower your devices

with intelligence, customization, and convenience – the

possibilities are endless.

Our solution unifies the imp, a powerful wifi-connected

module, with software and connectivity in the imp Cloud, so

you can build rich services and design awesome products

without having to deal with the heavy-lifting of building and

maintaining a scalable, reliable and secure connectivity

solution. Electric Imp also offers the simplest solution for

configuring WiFi with BlinkUp, using optical signals sent from a

smartphone’s screen to bring a device online.

Page 14: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Faraday Bicycles is a new company dedicated to

revolutionary bicycle innovation and design. We are

engineers, designers, and industry veterans who

passionately believe that better bikes make a better

world. Faraday’s powerful electric assist lets you feel

like you’re riding downhill, with a tailwind, on the best

day of your life. Cape not included.

The Faraday Porteur looks and feels like a premium

city bike, but it performs in a class of its own. Feel like

a champion … without looking like a dork.

Page 15: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

We started out wanting to snowboard all year,

wherever and whenever we wanted. And so, we

designed a board that gave riders the control of a

snowboard on pavement. As Freebord has

evolved, so has our goal: bring as much control as

possible to riding on pavement. Our riders can

carve, slide, slow down and stop whenever they

want. They can go as fast or as slow as they want.

They can bomb the steepest of streets or ride

mellow cruisers; hit big open roads or the

narrowest of sidewalks. On a Freebord, riders have

the control they need to ride what they want and

how they want.

Page 16: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Originally developed as a solution for computer

musicians to make music with a guitar, the first gTar

prototypes were developed in a garage in Cupertino,

CA. As Incident grew our team spent short periods of

time in various work spaces, including a renovated

icelandic ferryboat in San Francisco's Mission Bay,

before settling into our current office in San Francisco.

GAME GOLF allows you to see your game, share your game,

compare your game and compete like never before. With our

wearable technology and our available everywhere software you will

change the way golf is experienced. This will be the most fun you've

ever had on and off the golf course.

GAME is designed to be easy. Really easy. With the GAME product,

you receive a GYG device and a set of club tags, one for each club

in your bag.

Setup is simple—pop a tag onto each of your clubs and you are

ready to go. When you're ready to play, put the GYG device on your

belt and hit the course. Whenever you take a shot you just "tag" the

club against the GYG on your hip and go. With that, your game is

completely recorded. Every shot. Seamlessly.

the harshest climates, from pole to pole, to ensure your gear can

go the distance. From cellphones to refrigerators, and everything

in between, Goal Zero keeps you connected and powered up in

any situation.

The first Goal Zero prototype was created to bring reliable,

portable energy to the war-torn people of the Democratic

Republic of Congo (DRC). Today we work hand-in-hand with TIFIE

Humanitarian (Teaching Individuals and Families Independence

through Enterprise), not only to provide access to portable power,

but to create opportunities for a better life.

Page 20: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

ICON is designed by Jonathan Ward. The concept for ICON

was born in response to the collector market, as demands

and expectations on classic cars grew to expect modern

performance married to classic styling.

Today, the ICON, is a vehicle without peers for a journey

without boundaries. Classic styling, modern performance,

and timeless utility. Without the support of enthusiasts and

patrons like yourself, such an extreme expression of design

and utility would never have been possible.

Page 21: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

dry erase paint, and has been celebrated by the likes of The Wall

Street Journal, Mashable, Fast Company and CNBC as a tool that

has a profound impact on the process, experience and outcome of

bringing ideas to life. It’s advanced chemistry, but profoundly low-

tech.

Page 22: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Your digital images transformed into real instant

photographs. That’s impossible, right?

Right! We are Impossible and we love instant

photography. We love it so much, we resurrected the last

Polaroid factory in order to save instant film for the future.

If you've ever held a Polaroid SX-70 in your hand, you

probably understand. It's such an amazing piece of design

and the photos it makes are different from any other

camera - unique and magical. But even instant film

aficionados like us take a lot of pictures with our iPhones,

so we wanted to find a way to turn those digital iPhone

images into true instant photos.

Well … we invented it. The Impossible Instant Lab!

Page 23: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Instacube is the living canvas for your Instagram and

Facebook photos. Finally liberated from your smart

devices, Instacube passively streams the candids of

monitor that connects to your phone to measure, collect

and analyze the hidden qualities of your surroundings.

Lapka’s precise sensors respond to the invisible world of

particles, ions, molecules and waves. But Lapka doesn’t just

quantify what it measures. You get results that are specific

to where you are.

On the street, at the office, inside a child’s bedroom, or on

an airplane: the Lapka app compares its readings to

average guidelines for each individual environment. You

can collect snapshots of your comfort throughout the day

to create a diary or share with the world around you.

Top chefs all around the world are cooking other-

worldly delicious dishes with help from a secret

weapon. It's called an immersion circulator, which

sounds fancy, but it's a simple process that uses

precise heat to create perfect dishes. These

machines have typically been too complicated and

expensive for home cooks. With Nomiku, we believe

we can bring this essential tool into the food lover's

kitchen and it will completely change the way

people cook forever.

The Oru Kayak is an incredible, high-performance boat

that folds out of a compact case. Inspired by origami,

this innovative kayak transform quickly, easily— and

almost magically. Stash it in a trunk, check it on a plane,

stow it aboard a sailboat, or hike it in to remote waters.

It’s full size (12' long), super light (25 lbs), and quick to

assemble (5 min). On the water it’s fast, stable, and

handles incredibly well.

The Oru Kayak makes the wonder and discovery of the

great outdoors more accessible: easy foldability

Outdoor Tech® is a design-focused accessory brand

blending fashion and technology with the outdoors and

action sports. From the Turtle Shell rugged boom box to

the Chips helmet audio integration, wireless audio is the

signature line of the brand, but it’s the potentially iconic

logo, the Yowie®, that is most recognized by diehards

and casual fans alike.

Based in Los Angeles and founded in 2010 by Caro

Krissman and Mike Krisztal, Outdoor Tech’s mission is to

design and create stylish, functional outdoor accessories

that you probably want. Resembling Australia’s version of

Big Foot, OT’s logo is also the namesake of its multi-

functional headwear collection, The Yowie®.

do the rest. From time-lapses of sweeping landscapes to

stormy clouds to busy street corners, the possibilities are

limitless.

Radian is small, rugged, weather-resistant, and can handle

anything you throw at it. It can rotate side-to-side. It can tilt

up and down (with optional L-bracket). It can dynamically

speed up and slow down. And if you have a Canon dSLR,

you can change exposure to capture sunrise and sunset. You

name it. With our app, the sky is the limit.

Page 35: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

Our goal at Revolights is to make cyclists on the road

more visible while giving them the functionality they

need. Traditional bike lights focus heavily on forward

path illumination, use only a small blinking red light for

rear visibility and provide little to no side visibility. This

leaves cyclists vulnerable and drivers straining to see

them.

Our approach is different. The Revolights bike lighting

system consists of “smart” rings of LEDs which attach to

your wheels and synchronize to your speed to provide

forward path illumination, a huge increase in 360-

degree visibility and an actual brake light. See and be

seen.

Page 36: STANFORD COOL PRODUCT EXPO

KUBI is a robotic desktop tablet stand that helps

people who use video calling look around and

physically interact with others remotely through simple

web-based motion controls. Remote users can control

their video feed by panning and tilting the tablet to

adjust where they look, following the action, thus

bringing far-end camera controls to tablets.

KUBI distills the value of costly telepresence solutions to

90% of the functionality with the ability to look around

a room at less than 10% of the cost, making it more

accessible to small and medium size businesses and

consumers alike.

kind with almost a billion songs played in 2012.

The TouchTunes mobile app allows users to find locations nearby and

control the music experience directly from their phones. Since launch, it

has been downloaded over 1.3 million times. Recently, the company

re-imagined the jukebox as a multi-application platform that now

services the iconic experiences of karaoke and photobooth.
