Vietnam, Chile, Brazil. What’s next?

Page 2: STAR IBS Recruitment April

Dear student,

Let me briefly introduce you to what the International Business Study Committee is and what to expect from organizing this great project.

I’m the Chairman of the International Business Study (IBS) Project of STAR. IBS offers (Dutch) companies tailor-made research in an emerging market. This market is selected by you! During the project you get a lot of freedom. Together with your other committee members and a group of selected consultants you work towards a great field research period in your target country.

Are you in for an excited year where you learn how to work in a young consultancy firm with a lot of responsibilities and empowerment?

Apply for this unique opportunity and be member of the next IBS committee. Kind regards, Pieter ImmerzeelChairman of International Business Study 2010-2011

STAR is looking for you!

Role as a committeeAs a member of the STAR International Business Study (IBS) Committee you are responsible for the complete organization of this large event. The International Business Study provides students with the opportunity to gain consultancy experience by conducting customized research for Dutch companies in an emerging country. In the past, IBS has conducted research in countries such as Mexico, Vietnam, Brazil, and China.

The committee starts by selecting the country. Subsequently, the 22 participants and two professors are recruited in September. From October until January, preliminary research is conducted on the country, to gain insight into the emerging market and to gather knowledge that will serve as groundwork for further research. From January through April, acquisition takes place, meaning that companies must be found for which to conduct the actual research. After this, students will perform desk research for the contracted companies. In July, the chosen country will be visited for about three weeks in order to execute field research. In September, reports will be written and presented to the companies, which will then make the necessary investment decisions.

“IBS offers companies and nonprofit organizations tailor-made contract research carried out by a select group of 25 students.”

“As a Chairman of IBS you are responsible for the overall coordination of the project.
