Message from the President Lenora Oeters, Cincinnati
This academic year Tri Delta will celebrate 130 years since
our founding! What an exciting time to be a part of Tri
Delta—as we continue to help women live, learn and lead
with purpose for a lifetime at college campuses all across
North America.
Over the past 130 years, our organization has been led by
strong alumnae members, guided by strategic volunteers,
and continues to be fueled by energetic and forward-
thinking collegiate members. As we reflect back on the Tri
Delta that each of us has experienced, I think we can all
agree that our Purpose as Tri Delta women is to:
Establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its
members
Develop a stronger and more womanly character
Broaden the moral and intellectual life
Assist our members in every possible way
Today, we say that Tri Delta is an assembly of women with
shared values where you can be yourself and belong to
something bigger. We are brave, bold, and kind. We are
passionate about serving others, committed to becoming
the best version of ourselves, and dedicated to helping
women live, learn and lead—with Purpose—for a lifetime.
I know that Sarah Ida Shaw & Eleanor Dorcas Pond would
be amazed at the Tri Delta of today—her passion, her
longevity, her diversity and her strength. Therefore, I
encourage you to reflect on the words of our Founders and
to bring yourself to Tri Delta. Whether that be in
volunteerism with our local collegiate chapters in the area,
as a chapter officer or as an enthusiastic and welcoming
member of our chapter. We have a myriad of events this
fall, where we encourage you to bring your brave, bold and
kind self to make Tri Delta better!
I look forward to meeting you or reconnecting with you this
Fall! Thanks for all you do to make Tri Delta uniquely you!
Delta Love,
Lenora

CARE AFFAIR 2017 WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!!!
The 34th CARE AFFAIR raised a record of $159,000! $144,500 will benefit CURE and the Tri Delta Foundation will receive $14,500. Over $89,000 was received in sponsorships from our loyal
members and and the business community, breaking the sponsorship record! The Care Affair Committee, chaired by Bonnie Holiman, worked tirelessly from September to our April 22nd event to
achieve the great success we had this year. Thank you to all who volunteered for this effort once again! Exceptional Live and Silent Auction items were available and there were new ventures to
entice our guests. These included a Wine Pull, Fund-a- Need Gas Cards, and Champagne flutes with a hidden diamond to be found for one lucky buyer. All contributed to the evening of fun for our
most generous guests. Our young and courageous speaker, Bailey Moody, absolutely captivated all those who attended. And our honored guest, Dr. Abdel Ragab, gave special meaning to the evening, as the one who encouraged us to start our Care Affairs over three decades ago. We are still looking
for a Chair for our 2018 Care Affair for our 35th Anniversary! Please contact Lenora Oeters, Cincinnati at [email protected] if you are interested in serving in this capacity.

Alumnae Member Spotlight
Pam Oglesby Elmore, Georgia
Pam Oglesby Elmore, Georgia, loves the friendships she has developed over the 40 years she has been a member of the Tri Delta Atlanta Alumnae Chapter. Jennafer, Georgia, and Kimberly, Tennessee, both initiated into Tri Delta. Pam has held too many offices to name in the Alumnae Chapter ranging from Night Group Chairman to President and has
co-chaired Care Affair twice. She was also an Alumnae Volunteer serving as an Alumnae
Specialist for many years. Other interests outside of Tri Delta include her women's circle at church
and garden club, both where she holds offices. She is also a sustainer in the Gwinnett North Fulton
Junior League. Hobbies include gardening, hiking, and she enjoys Tai Chi classes.

Scholarship Winners!

Delta Foundation through scholarships and awards made possible
through the money raised at Care Affair. Each year, 10% of what
is made goes back to the Tri Delta Foundation. Below are two
scholarship winners supported and funded by the Atlanta
Alumnae Chapter.
Haley Simard, Florida State, a junior from Alpharetta, GA is the
Nancy Adams – Florida State University Scholarship winner this
year. Initiated into Alpha Eta in 2015, Haley has served as the
Chapter Correspondent , Secretary, and Executive Board Member.
Majoring in Marketing, Haley has received numerous academic
honors. She maintains a 3.875 GPA while also serving as the
manager and marketing specialist for the FSU Women’s Tennis
Team, Honors Hall Ambassador and Tour Guide and volunteering
in the community.
Madeline Keith, Clemson, is a junior from Atlanta, GA and is the
Atlanta Alumnae Chapter Achievement Scholarship winner for
2017-2018. Madeline was initiated in Beta Theta in 2015 and has
served as New Member Educator and New Member Educator
Assistant. She is a Psychology and Management double major
with a 3.93 GPA. On campus, Madeline participates in Thomas
Chapman Leadership Scholars, I LEAD!, Fellowship of Christian
Athletes, and ClemsonLIFE to name a few. Madeline writes about
her Tri Delta experience saying, “In Tri Delta the dolphin
represents rebirth, friendship and leadership. The grace of my
sorority sisters sees this symbol playing out in my own life as a
product of the Tri Delta values. This sorority redefined how I
communicate with and serve other people. I am growing in
leadership as a result of my desire to share this newly found
passion beyond the walls of the chapter room. I have new sites on
large goals.”

Interest Groups In addition to four or five all-chapter events each year, like the Fall Kick-Off, Founders’ Day, Pansy Dinner, etc., the
Atlanta Alumnae Chapter has many other opportunities to become engaged socially, philanthropically, and by working with collegiate chapters. The descriptions below will help you better understand what is available — dues-
paying members are welcome to join any activity!
20Somethings
The 20Somethings are mostly in their twenties (and beyond!) and meet monthly to get to know one another, socialize and further develop our sisterhood. We typically meet after work in a central location; some of our laid back, come-as-you-are get-togethers include happy hour in Midtown, a group fitness class in the Highlands, and even a personal styling event in Buckhead. 20Somethings is a great entry point to the larger Atlanta Alumnae group and is a fabulous way to get to know your fellow up and coming Tri Delta sisters. Can't wait to see you there!
Delta Day Group This is a diverse, dynamic group of Atlanta alumnae who are available for daytime activities. Programs range from fun in-a-members-home gatherings to museum visits and tours of historical Atlanta sites, and often include an opportunity to have lunch together. The group, facilitated by a leadership committee, meets monthly, August-June in months when there is no all-chapter meeting, on various days of the week. A favorite activity each year is the December/Holiday Golden Circle Luncheon and Auction. The funds raised from the auction support Care Affair and are also used to subsidize the individual member’s cost for our monthly activities. Another annual favorite, usually ending the year, is the Tri Delta & Guest catered dinner party!
Delta Nights Delta Nights accommodates our Tri Deltas who work and are not free to socialize with their sisters during the daytime, although all are invited to our events. Our most popular and well-attended event is the Delta Nights Ornament Exchange each December, where sisters bring an appetizer or dessert to share, along with a wrapped, Tri Delta-inspired ornament for the "Dirty Santa" game. The evenings and locations of our events are spread out throughout the city, and typically appetizers and beverages are included in each event.
Night Book Club The Night Book Club meets once a month for dinner and conversation. We usually meet the 3rd week of the month on a Tuesday or Thursday evening. Each member of the group takes turns hosting us, which entails providing a light meal for 5-8 ladies, and choosing a book to read & discuss. We read fiction and non-fiction. Reading the book is NOT a prerequisite for attending the meeting! We do not meet in July or December.
Day Book Clubs
These groups generally meet in members’ homes once a month in the afternoon, excluding July, for discussion of a fiction or non-fiction book. The hostess provides light refreshments. Membership in each group is limited to 15. We will add group(s) as needed!
Food and Wine Group These groups generally meet in members’ homes once a month in the afternoon, excluding July, for discussion of a fiction or non-fiction book. The hostess provides light refreshments. Membership in each group is limited to 15. We will add group(s) as needed!
Delta Squared Delta Squared activities are centered around the Marietta Square area. We take advantage of city-sponsored activities such as the First Friday Art Walks & the Glover Park Concert Series, dine in the many restaurants on the square, visit the museums, take a walking or guided tour, shop at the antique & specialty boutiques, hike & picnic at Kennesaw Mountain, and even gather at a fellow Tri Delta's home in the Historic District.
St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer The Atlanta Alumnae Chapter fields a team for this event, which this year will be held Saturday, September 24th at Lenox Mall. Join your sisters in walking or support their efforts with a donation!
Care Affair Spring 2017 will mark the 34
th anniversary of the Atlanta Alumnae
Chapter’s largest philanthropic event, Care Affair, an auction/dinner which raises money for CURE Childhood Cancer and the Tri Delta Foundation. To date, we have raised over 2.2 million dollars! It takes many dedicated committee members to plan the event, secure donations and sponsorships, help with logistics, and of course, attend! This is the perfect way to socialize with sisters while helping children with cancer and their families.
Working with Collegians The Atlanta Alumnae Chapter actively supports the Alpha Omega Chapter at Emory University. Our collegiate/alumnae relations committee organizes baked goods and treats for exams, backroom assistance during recruitment, and joint alumnae/collegiate activities.
