commit robbery and b) Failed toprevent a felony. 4) Austin Mungquia, 21,Belizean laborer residing at thecorner of Church Street andBullet Tree Road in San IgnacioTown charged with a) Handlingstolen goods. 5) Luis Albert Hernandez,29, Belizean laborer of a StantonStreet address in San IgnacioTown: a) Handling stolen goods. 6) Erwin Fernandez, 19,Belizean unemployed of #32Buena Vista Street, San IgnacioTown: a) Handling stolen goodsand 7) Isolina Perez, 41, Belizeandomestic of a Garcia Streetaddress in Santa Elena Town:a) Handling stolen goods. Police are also proceedingwith robbery and conspiracy tocommit robbery charges againstBenjamin “Benji” Peters,Alexander “Alex” Edwardsand Gabriel Salazar all ofwhom remain at large. As theinvestigation continues, reportsindicate that a joint murdercharge could also be leviedagainst these three suspects whohave thus far been able to remainoutside the reach of the long armof the law. Our investigation revealedthat the robbery was inplanning for several weekswith Benjamin “Benji” Petersand Gabriel Salazar as thesuspected masterminds behindthe plan. The information reaching usindicate that Frank Edwardsreportedly arrived at his uncle’sfarm in the Valley of Peacecommunity where he met hisbrother, Alex Edwards in thecompany of Benji Peters andGabriel Salazar who were

reportedly planning to rob thebank. Gabriel’s older brother, JuanSalazar was reportedlydispatched with cash to SantaElena and with instructions toseek Benji’s younger brother,Michael “Big Mike” Rodriguezto rent a vehicle. Big Mike, alongwith Salazar visited Matus AutoRental in San Ignacio where theyrequested and were providedwith a white Suzuki Sidekickwith tinted glass. Big Mikereportedly informed that heneeded the vehicle to transporta client who was interested inpurchasing land. With Juan driving the vehicleand Big Mike in the passengerseat, they proceeded to an openpasture near the Valley of PeaceCommunity where Big Mikewas let out of the vehicle andreportedly told to visit thepolice station in Belmopan toreport that he was robbed ofthe vehicle and other personalproperty. All five men, being theSalazar brothers, the Edwardsbrothers and Benji Peters, boarded the vehicle, driven byAlex Edwards, for the ride to thebank. In complying with his portionof the plan, Big Mike visited thepolice station in Belmopanwhere he reported that he wasrobbed of the vehicle and otherpersonal properties includinga laptop computer, a digitalcamera and other personaldocuments. However, hisdemeanor was somehow notfitting the profile of a personwho was just robbed of avehicle and other valuableproperties. While Big Mike wasgoing through the process, thereported bank robbery began toblast through the police radiocommunication system and thetide began to shift on him froma victim to a suspect and after

intensive questioning, the firstbreak in the investigation beganto unfold. In the meantime the Suzukiand all five occupants arrived atScotiabank in Spanish Lookoutwhere Benji Peters and GabrielSalazar, both masked and armed, were the first to jump out ofthe vehicle. A single shot wasreportedly fired, the very shotsuspected to be the one whichfatally injured one of the twounarmed bank security guardsfrom KBH Security Company. Two other occupants, FrankEdwards and Juan Salazar, jumped out of the vehicleleaving Alex Edwards still in thedriver’s seat. All four maskedpersons entered the bank and

proceed to hold up the BankManager, Michael Mena; theteller and the second unarmedKBH Security Guard. The manager complied withthe robbers’ order to open thevault. Benji Peters and FrankEdwards entered the vault and
