FROM THE PTSO

The Lakota East Parent Teacher Student Organization(PTSO) supports everyone at Lakota East High School atboth campuses. We are proud to be able to support everystudent regardless of whether or not they play a sport orwhich extracurricular activity they may participate in. Weare a group of parent volunteers who care deeply aboutenriching the experience each person has as a member ofthe LEHS family, whether or not you are in-person or virtual.

In light of the unfortunate reality of COVID-19 and thesubsequent cancellation of the 2020 Craft Show, which isthe largest fundraiser for the PTSO, this year we arechanging PTSO membership in an effort to augment ourfundraising. In past years, the funds raised by the PTSO have allowedus to support many activities at the school such as:

T Hawk Culture (back to school fanfare, space improvements, guest speakers, etc) Lakota Elementary and Junior High Future ThunderHawk Engagement Event Senior Signs Many Senior Activities Barb Bossu Award for Service Top 25 Awards College Scholarships Staff Appreciation (welcome back meals, conference meals, etc) After Prom Special Requests for Funding (Relay for Life, XH Meditation, Honor Flight transportation, etc) Student Group Competition FeesAND SO MUCH MORE!

This new school year brings its own challenges foreveryone in the Lakota East community. There are manyitems on the list of past events that may not be able tohappen this year, but that does not mean we can’t continue

DISTRICT NOTES

WE are Prepared: Lakota’s Responsible Reopening Plans As we face the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Lakota Local Schools believes it is important tomaximize all students’ in-person learning with their teachers and school staff in a safe manner, while still providing a virtualoption to students who require it for health reasons or even simply prefer it. At this time, following guidance from the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) the ButlerCounty Health Department and other local experts, all students will return to school this year following a regular, full-timeschedule with additional safety precautions in place. This includes physical distancing, additional cleaning procedures andmasks or face coverings for both staff and students if they are less than six feet apart. The Virtual Learning Option was alsoannounced as an option earlier this summer. We will continue to follow the guidance of the Butler County HealthDepartment when determining any changes to this plan. Click here to read the complete plan for Lakota’s responsible reopening, including alternative options, if deemed necessary. Visit Lakota’s WE are Prepared webpage for all the latest information related to our reopening plans, including acomprehensive FAQ and other resources. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
