Page 2: Startup attitudes

Hello, my name is Davy

and I started a business

Page 3: Startup attitudes
Page 4: Startup attitudes

My management team

Page 5: Startup attitudes

so you’ve hit the start button of your company

Page 6: Startup attitudes

some free tips

Page 7: Startup attitudes
Page 8: Startup attitudes

focus on ANGER

Page 9: Startup attitudes

Frustration

ANGERWhat made you change?

provider

cars

mobile phone work

association

laptop bank

Page 10: Startup attitudes

People who are angry change things!

AS CUSTOMER:

they turn into willing customersthey will pay for the solution

they don’t say no to alternatives

Page 11: Startup attitudes

People who are angry change things!

AS BUSINESS OWNER:

they look for new solutionsthey turn customer focussed

they make it their quest to eradicate frustration

Page 12: Startup attitudes

so don’t make people angry, but do focus on angry people

Page 13: Startup attitudes
Page 14: Startup attitudes

markets that aquire ATTENTION

Page 15: Startup attitudes

No 1: OLD PEOPLE

Page 16: Startup attitudes

Needless to say there is a much larger amount of BABYBOOMERS than any other age group

Old people don’t just have ANY money, they have ALL the money!

Page 17: Startup attitudes

Old people don’t drink beer, they drink trappist

The older people get, the more they pay attention to options on their new car

They are harder to convince, but once convinced you’ve got their undying trust

Page 18: Startup attitudes

old people just don’t have money, they have all the money

Page 19: Startup attitudes

so stop focussing on the young people, they get their money from their grandma

Page 20: Startup attitudes

No 2: WOMEN

Page 21: Startup attitudes

Women are known to make an average of 70% of ALL the family purchases.

Women although making less money then men, SPEND more money then men.

Women don’t just buy your product, they become a part of your BRAND marketing.

Women have a much larger network then men and TALK to their network more often

Page 22: Startup attitudes
Page 23: Startup attitudes

Respect!

Page 24: Startup attitudes

how did it make you feel?

when during your 5min talk to that important CEO, he just fiddles about on his desk?

when the people in that meeting just wouldn’t listen when you still had something important to say?

when your manager looked down on you as you were just a roach standing in his way?

Page 25: Startup attitudes

you can only earn respect,by giving it

Page 26: Startup attitudes
Page 27: Startup attitudes

EVERYBODY is in sales

Page 28: Startup attitudes

if you sell:

be PASSIONATE about your SOLUTION

ALWAYS DELIVER

Page 29: Startup attitudes

no matter how wonderful your product is,you’ll still have to sell it

Page 30: Startup attitudes
Page 31: Startup attitudes

DO something

Page 32: Startup attitudes

Business today:

too much talk, too little do

- Tom Peters -

Page 33: Startup attitudes

We’ve got a strategic plan:

it’s called doing things!

- Herb Kelleher -

Page 34: Startup attitudes

No matter how beautiful the strategy,we must occasionally look at the results

- Sir Winston Churchill -

Page 35: Startup attitudes

Talking about it,doesn’t get it done

Page 36: Startup attitudes
Page 37: Startup attitudes

FAIL ! FORWARD ! FAST !

Page 38: Startup attitudes

The biggest danger for your business

is not that you aim too high

and you fail, but that

you aim to low and you achieve!

- Michelangelo -

Page 39: Startup attitudes

Reward excellent failures,punish mediocre successes

- Clyde Lear -

Page 40: Startup attitudes
Page 41: Startup attitudes

Innovate !

Page 42: Startup attitudes

surround yourself with innovative people, things, area’s, circumstances,...

be open to all new things, even if they scare you,ESPECIALLY when they scare you

don’t force innovation to emerge from war rooms, break out area’s, or other ARTIFICIAL places

Page 43: Startup attitudes

You can never be remarkable if you follow someone else who’s remarkable

- Seth Godin -

Page 44: Startup attitudes
Page 45: Startup attitudes

DON’T EVER benchmark

Page 46: Startup attitudes

Benchmarking is stupid!

Page 47: Startup attitudes

Benchmarking:

1: Take the current industry leader’s situation2: Figure out a 5 year plan 3: To get as good as this leader was 5 years ago4: 5 years from now

Page 48: Startup attitudes
Page 49: Startup attitudes
Page 50: Startup attitudes

forget about Apple

Page 51: Startup attitudes

Just follow their slogan:

THINK DIFFERENT

Page 52: Startup attitudes

comparing yourself to Apple,is highly unmotivating

Page 53: Startup attitudes
Page 54: Startup attitudes

PASSION

Page 55: Startup attitudes

Business is about passion, about excellence, about achieving things, ...

You can only achieve great things if you are prepared to achieve great things

Focus on what’s important for your company and pump up your muscels for it!

Page 56: Startup attitudes
Page 57: Startup attitudes

aim on PROFIT

Page 58: Startup attitudes

I love profit... I love obscene profit !

it enables you to hire the most interesting people and take the most crazy risks known to mankind

- Tom Peters -

Page 59: Startup attitudes

be profitable

Page 60: Startup attitudes

never focus on revenue,it only hides your profit/loss

Page 61: Startup attitudes

thank you
