We are glad that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the zeal towards theinnovation remained ignited among these startups as for this cohort wereceived a large number of applications from PAN India. From the pool of 360applications, 23 best proposals were selected. These startups underwent 2months of workshop. Finally, 11 startups have been recommended for funding.The selection process would not have been possible without the support ofScreening Committee, RIC members & CIC members whose commitmenttowards promoting Startups and innovation has pulled the best proposals forfurther refinement.

The 8 week long workshop covered all the possible areas for the startupsvarying from Legal, Accounts, Business Financials, Business Plan Activity,Technical Sessions, IPR, Panel Discussion, Session with Government &Industry, Virtual Factory Visit etc. The R-ABI is thankful to all the mentors &trainers for their dedication and helping us making the process such acomplacent. ICAR- Indian Veterinary Research Institute is one of the premier institutes forVeterinary and Animal Sciences that came into existence in 1889 with a primaryobjective of creating disease diagnostics and vaccines, but over the period of timethe institute has evolved as per the requirement of the nation to cater the needsof Veterinary and Animal Science sector in a holistic way.

In this evolution process, IVRI has contributed significantly in creating startupecosystem in Agritech & Allied sector through Agribusiness Incubation Centreestablished in 2016, which regularly organizes-Entrepreneurship DevelopmentPrograms in different domain area of Animal Science. To escalate the momentumof this mission, with the support of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers‟ Welfare(MoA & FW), RKVY– RAFTAAR Agri Business Incubator (R-ABI) was established atIndian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar in January 2019 which consistentlyaims at strengthening and promoting agripreneurship and agri-business throughcapacity building, financial support and nurturing the incubation ecosystem.

We are committed to provide scaling up opportunities to startups by providing aconducive and healthy environment to the incubatees‟ through unparalleltechnical and business mentorship from deep domain knowledge expert of theinstitute and a large network of corporate partners and industry experts. It is inthis context, that more than 40 agripreneurs have been trained and mentored inthe past two cohorts. Of these, 25 exciting agripreneurs have been successful infetching grant in aid worth of INR 323 lakhs. In the second cohort, total 23agripreneurs representing seven states were incubated at IVRI-RABI. We believethat each and every agripreneur is unique and innovative in their own way andtherefore we congratulate each and every agripreneurs for taking up thechallenge of solving critical problems of Animal Science domain.

This Startup catalogue is an effort by IVRI- R-ABI to document the innovativeideas of these agripreneurs and spread the message of innovation in nationamong all the stakeholders. Hope this publication would inspire many moreagripreneurs to come up with new ideas which will add new dimensions to theAgriculture & Allied Sector that ultimately benefits farmers.

About IVRI- ऩशु विज्ञान Incubator & R-ABI

Under the aegis of ICAR- Indian Veterinary Research Institute in 2016, IVRI-ऩशुविज्ञान Incubator’ was established with a mandate to empower theentrepreneurship ecosystem. The journey started with the EntrepreneurshipDevelopment Training Programme (EDPs) and later in 2019, RAFTAAR Agri BusinessIncubator (R-ABI) was set up under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, RemunerativeApproaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR)Scheme of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. The incubator is charteredat strengthening infrastructure in agriculture and allied sector to promoteagripreneurship, innovation and agribusiness by providing financial support andnurturing the incubation ecosystem.

IVRI R-ABI has pioneered in incubating startups in the Animal Science sectormarking its presence PAN India and providing them an opportunity to explore andimplement the innovative ideas into a commercially viable product. The Centrefacilitates and aids startup by well crafting their business plan, funding supportand technology with the support of vast pool of technical knowledge housed atIVRI and the business/ industry mentors. Knowledge base is the key strength ofthe incubator and an attraction for most of the startups to get their technologiesvalidated and scaled up. This is implemented through two programmesNAVODAYA– Agripreneurship Orientation Programme and SAMRIDDHI-Agripreneurship Incubation Programme. We have observed that rural youth is alsocoming forward with unique ideas to address the existing challenges of agriculture& allied sector and becoming part of such incubation programmes.

The Centre is continuously striving at strengthening the entrepreneurialecosystem & build the capacities of entrepreneurs by way of conductingworkshops, trainings, interface meets, webinars etc. The Centre is skillfullycatalyzing the transfer of Institute’s technologies from lab to startups,entrepreneurs and farmers. IVRI- RABI is a vibrant facilitation platform foraggregation and networking of various stakeholders including innovators,agripreneurs, investors, mentors , industry and other institutions / bodies. Inaddition to this, the centre has also launched various services to cater the needsof startup ecosystem through Incubation Membership, Mentorship, Office Space,Conference & Meeting Room Space, IPR & Company Registration Services,Institutional Membership, Individual & Student Membership.

We believe that the joint efforts of government, incubators, mentors, investors,entrepreneurs etc. will enable in promoting the entrepreneurial culturenationwide.
