Introduction

Therearemanybiologicalandexternalfactorsthatshapeourviewsandourlivesandthroughtheuseofasurvey,weareabletomakeobservationsofhowthingssuchasgender,politicalpartyaffiliation,orapersonsincomemayinfluenceapersonschoicesandlife. Manystatisticalstudieshavebeenconductedtobetterunderstandtheseinfluences.Oneexampleofthisisfoundinanexistingstatisticalstudythatlinksgendertoapersonsincome.InthecurrentUnitedStatesPopulationSurvey,itshowsthefemale-to-maleearningsratioat0.77,revelingafemalesincomeis23%lessthanamales.(http://www.bls.gov/cps/cpswom2010.pdf).Thisisjustoneexampleofhowasurveycanrevealimportantsocialandeconomicinformation.

Byconductinganobservationalstudythroughasurveyofover2,500peopleofallages,wewereabletoobservedifferentareasofapersonslife.Welookedatquantitativevariablessuchasphysicalattributes(weight,heightandshoessize),andapersonswaterconsumption.Somequalitativevariablesobservedweregender,politicalthought,andpoliticalpartyaffiliations.Withthedatacollectedwecanexplorewhichelementssurveyedareindependentandwhicharedependentofeachother.

Procedure

Theteacherofacollegestatisticscourseprovidedaquestionnairetohisstudents.Eachstudentwasresponsibleforrandomlyselectingandsurveying10peoplewiththefollowingquestions:
