First Reading : (Acts 1:11) The book of Acts opens with a summary of Christ’s last forty days on earth, culminating in His ascension into heaven. There is a promise of a Second Coming but it is hidden in the mystery of the Father. Meanwhile, the Church of Christ is to be carried to the ends of the earth. Gospel Reading : (Matthew 28 : 16-20) Matthew does not end his Gospel with a description of the Ascension. Instead he chooses to close his work on a mountain in Galilee with Christ’s great command to His apostles: Go, teach, baptize. Jesus promises to be in His Church until the end of time. Distribution of Holy Communion at Our Lady of Mount Carmel The servers and choir (when present) receive Communion first. Would parishioners please then come from the front (Our Lady’s side) and then from the back (Sacred Heart side).
