STAY HOME- BE STILL | Session 3 Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” As we are all under social distancing restrictions and everything we know and hold dear has been cancelled, including our Spring retreat, I believe the Lord is extending an even more urgent call for us to be still and draw close to him. He is our omnipresent, omniscient sovereign, all sufficient Lord. He is allowing so many of our distractions to be stopped, silenced and stilled. Let us stop, let us rest in silence, let us hear His voice calling to abide in His presence.

John 14:6-12 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

Slowly read through these verses again, meditating on the meaning of the words and contemplating what God is saying to you. Ask God to reveal himself to you in your time with Him. Note the responses to the following questions in your journal and be prepared to share your thoughts with your group.

What do you think God is teaching you about himself and Jesus in these verses?

What do you think God has been teaching you through His Son Jesus today?

How can you relate to Philip’s statement in verse 8 in this text?If you have not ever accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, what do you think is preventing you?

If you have questions and would like to talk with your virtual small group leader, call her and ask to set up a time.

If you feel ready to accept Jesus as YOUR way, YOUR truth andYOUR life today, here are some verses to consider as you moveforward to that decision.

Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23 “ For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life inChrist Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 5:8“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ diedfor us.”

Romans 10:9-10 ”because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

Romans 10:13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Pray this prayer if you are ready to accept Christ as your Savior. I believe you died for my sins, and rose from the dead.I repent of andturn from my sins and ask you to come into my heart and life. I want totrust and follow you.

Now call your virtual small group leader or share your decision witha family member or friend.
