The Third Week of Easter! Alleluia!

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS The road to Emmaus is one of my favorite Gospel stories because it shows a Jesus that is masterful at reaching people. First, when he comes upon those walking on the road, he asks them what they are talking about and then asks them to explain. How often are we too eager to just start talking at people when we feel they need to hear what we have to say? Jesus offers an invitation for them to share first. Allowing them to share first opens them up for what Jesus will do next. Second, Jesus takes time to interpret for them the words of the prophets. He gave them their turn and now it is his. Not only wise, but a movement of respect. After a long walk, they invite Jesus stay with them and dine. Third and finally, Jesus breaks bread with them and they are able to see that he is no ordinary traveler. He is the risen One. He could have just told them who he was, but allowing them by their experience to uncover who he was had the greater impact. Jesus demonstrated to us in these actions how to be gracious and impactful when sharing the good news. If we are to be good stewards and fruitful disciples then we must imitate him in this regard. This Easter season let us practice the following: 1) Allow others first to share what they have to say. 2) Then be willing to take the time to explain fully or to the best of our ability our faith. And 3) help others find a way to experience firsthand the message you have shared. No one can understand love without witnessing love. In this way, your words and deeds will become a pathway to Jesus for others. --Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

An Emmaus Prayer

Walk with us, O Lord, Risen Savior, walk with us on every journey of our life. Let us accompany You as You accompany

us and let our conversation never end. Stay with us, O Lord, our hearts are burn-ing within us as we recognize Your Glory

and receive You in the breaking of the bread.

Stay with us, O Lord, the day is far spent...come into our home, sit with us and

forever let us behold your wonder, your love, your mercy and your Divine and wonderful Presence. Amen. Alleluia!

The Holy Father’s prayer intentions for the month of May. ‘That Christian in Africa, in imitation of the Merciful Jesus, may give prophetic witness to reconciliation, justice and peace.’

GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE

"Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from rec-ognizing him." The disciples on the road to Emmaus had already heard reports about

Jesus' resurrection. It was at the forefront of their minds, but in spite of this, they did not recognize Jesus when he stood right before them.

Why not? Perhaps because they weren't looking for him. Maybe they didn't really believe that he was alive. Or it could be that his appearance was not the same as it had been be-

fore. Whatever the case, it's very interesting to learn that it was actually while celebrating the Eucharist that these men finally realized who was right there with them! "He was

made known to them in the breaking of bread." Living as we do some two thousand years later, it is easy to imagine that recognizing

Jesus was a snap for those who walked the earth when he did. We can run the risk of feel-ing sorry for ourselves that we don't get to see Jesus in person they way THEY did. But

look here! It was through the Eucharist that Christ was made known to them, and we too have that gift right in front of us. We celebrate every week the same "breaking of bread" at the altar during Mass. Jesus is present with us, body, blood, soul, and divinity, even if

we don't recognize him! He is there, present in our midst. If our eyes of faith are feeble, we can pray that the Lord will help us to know his presence in the Eucharist. Just as he came to comfort and accompany his first disciples, he wants to do the same for us through the Most Blessed Sacrament. We only need to be sure that

we are always on the lookout to find him in our midst. (LPI)

REGINA COELI

Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. / For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia.

Has risen, as he said, alleluia. / Pray for us to

God, alleluia.

Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia. / For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.

Let us pray. O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord

Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting

Life through Christ our Lord. Amen.

D ear Parish Family,

It took some ‘time’ to catch up after Holy Week and Easter! Besides the parish growing in number, the crowds at Easter exceeded our expectations and planning. The truth is that we are still catching up as there is ALWAYS something going on in the parish. I had cancelled a few weekday Masses in an effort to ‘take a break’ but I can assure you that did not happen. I thank the Deacon for filling in during Easter Break and for his service with the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction. As Easter continues we will also continue to celebrate the Risen Lord in so many ways—most especially through the Eucharist and the ‘family spirit’ that’s excels here at St. Colette. Again allow me to thank you for the Easter Wishes and the abundance of bakery and food brought to the Rectory. Thank you for your constant kindness and your over-whelming generosity to the parish. Gratitude to Abbot Gary, OSB who celebrated our Confirmation Liturgy! In the absence of a Bishop, Abbot Gary’s schedule has tripled with his duties at the Abbey and Confirmations throughout the Diocese. We thank him for spending the evening with us through the Liturgy and afterwards. April is nearly behind us! On to May and to First Communions, Graduations, and the Wedding Season. Sabrina has begun planning for our Vacation Bible School and though it seems distant on the calendar, if these coming months fly by like the previous months….get ready! In your prayers remember those who are ill and those who have asked our prayers.

May the joy of Easter continue to fill your hearts and homes with an ‘Alleluia!’ Blessings— Fr. Krizner & the Lily and Grace!

NEXT WEEKEND, May 6/7, is DONUT SUNDAY!

After the Easter Vigil Mass...

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.

V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created. R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray. O God, Who didst instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. AMEN!

QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK

Luke 24:13-35 Luke tells us in the Resurrection story on the road to Emmaus that Jesus "was made known to them in the breaking of bread."

What does this teach us about the Eucharist? Acts 2:14, 22-33

We hear today part of Peter's speech delivered in the streets of Jerusalem on the feast of Pentecost. How does Peter use the

prophecies of King David to prove the resurrection of Christ? 1 Peter 1:17-21

Peter advises fellow believers in the Resurrection to "conduct yourselves with reverence." What is your reaction to Peter's

counsel?

Saints Philip and James May 3. Saints Philip and James share a feast day be-cause their relics were brought to Rome together in

early May. We know nothing more about either saint than what is found in the Scriptures. There we are told that they were apostles, and tradition has it that

they were both martyred. -Saint of the Day

We have gluten free hosts. If you would like to receive them, please see one of our Sacristans

To all attending weekday Masses: After the 11:00 AM Wednesday mass each week
