benchmark testing window to review updates in assessment

procedures and discuss other assessment related topics.

Typically there is one representative from each building in

One of the foremost developmental tasks of early

childhood is learning how to establish relationships.

Children’s early interaction patterns with adults and peers

set the stage for their later social competence or deviance.

The Early Social Indicator (ESI) is one means of checking

children’s growth toward the important general outcome of

being able to interact with peers and adults, maintain social

interaction and participate socially in home, school, and

community.

Outcome:

Participants will become certified to administer the ESI to measure

progress toward proficiency in social competence in infants and

toddlers, 0 to 3 years of age

Early Childhood Curriculum Review Day

The Purpose for this meeting is to provide teams with an overview of the Revised Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (ECIP) and district team planning time. Eileen Nelson from MDE will share with us the standrs revision, the new I/T tool, and other supports they have for the ECIPs.

Outcome:Action plans will be developed and individualized suport will be provided to each district based on their plan.Why???? ~ To align the curriculum review process to building and district specific ECIP needs.~ To connect curriculum review process to optional SCRED hosted Early Chhildhood instructional strategies trainings.

This is a department meeting and professional learning

committee for SCRED itinerant staff. The meeting purpose

is to serve as both a monthly department meeting as well

as professional learning for SCRED staff members. The

primary focus is providing learning opportunities and

networking for related services and support services staff

serving all SCRED member districts.

Outcome:

Provide a network system and collaboration time for itinerant staff with

Collaborative Planners and Unique Learner Managers. Improve services to

member districts and engage in collective problem-solving.

The Developmental Adapted Physical Education teachers

will have the opportunity twice during the school year to

network with other SCRED district DAPE teachers,

occupational therapists, and physical therapist. These active

sessions will assist teachers to support students with

disabilities while addressing best practices for inclusion,

technology, standards-based IEP goals/objectives, sensory

integration assessment, and activity adaptations.

Outcome: These sessions will focus on strategies to foster student en-

gagement for success in the movement environment.

The Speech and Language Pathologists will meet three times

during the school year. The network meetings will provide a

time for SLPs to improve their service delivery as well as receive

guidance specific to their unique service area. Topics to include

RTI support, problem solving, effective service delivery, instructional

strategies, specialized techniques for students with the

highest needs, implementation and improvement of AAC instruction

and service, Infinitec as a professional development

resource, and sharing of ideas and resources.

Outcome: Continue to build capacity within local districts to provide

services for students with Speech and Language Disorders

(Previously known as Programming Parties) This is an opportunity to

support and plan for Assistive Technology for your students. The

evening could include Kurzweil support, Assistive Technology

problem solving, and/or Augmentative Communication Device

Planning and Programming. Bring your team to learn more about

Assistive Technology, problem solve, plan, research and try AT tools,

create, and even program devices and systems for your students

with AT needs in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment.

Computers are limited, but assorted assistive technology devices

and many resources are available for sharing.

Dinner will be served.

Outcome: Build capacity of special education teams to understand, provide access, and

document assistive technology supports for their students that are potentially not accessing or

meeting outcomes in general or special education curriculum during the school day.

Participants will receive professional development in the areas relevant to their position, regardless of licensure area. Topics to be covered include

assistive technology, secondary transition, social skills instruction, academic instruction, and due process compliance. Participants will also have the

opportunity to network with collaborative planners and receive instruction specific to their licensure area.

All special education teachers should register for 2 out of the three networking days listed above that best meet their professional learning needs. If interested

in attending all 3 days, the teacher should seek approval from their building principal. Partial day attendance is not an option

working under the ADSIS waiver program. The purpose of

these meetings is to support compliance with waiver

requirements, and to support quality program

implementation.

Outcome:

This training will cover the following topics related to Section

504:

* Overview of law * Evaluation procedures

* Eligibility criteria * 504 plans

* Use of SpEd Forms for 504 Plans

The training will also provide work time for participants to

practice transferring a 504 plan into the SpEd Forms 504

Plan system.

Outcome: Participants will have a basic understanding of Section 504 law

and its implications for students in their buildings. Participants will develop the

skills to evaluate students for Section 504 and determine

eligibility. Participants will gain knowledge in the creation of Section 504 plans

based on student needs identified through the evaluation process.

Participants will learn to navigate SpEd Forms

for 504 documentation purposes.

assess their current practices, create an action plan for

continued implementation, and schedule in-district follow-up

collaboration.

Outcome: Teams will leave with a clear picture of where their

school is at in implementation of a school-wide system of behavior

supports. Teams will have an action plan for continued

implementation and will have follow-up meetings scheduled.

This is an 8-hour class that certifies staff in verbal

de-escalation and non-violent physical crisis intervention

techniques. CPI certification is valid for 12 months before a

refresher class is required. ***The initial training is for those

who have never been certified through CPI or for those

whose certification has expired. You must attend the

entire training in order to receive certification.***

Outcome: Upon completion of this course, participants will receive

a one year certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute.

This refresher course is an overview of the full CPI initial course in a

half-day session for those needing to renew their certification. The

focus is on verbal de-escalation techniques and non-violent physical

have previously attended an initial training and hold current CPI

certification. You must attend the entire training in order to

renew your certification.***
