1. SUBJECT OF THE APPROVAL
The subject of this Technical Approval are TS type sleeve anchors of TRUTEK
FASTENERS LIMITED manufacture.
A TS sleeve anchor in its basic version consists of a threaded stud ended with a
wedging cone, a partially segmented sleeve and a hexagon flanged nut (Figure 1). A TS-SS
anchor is made of the same elements, but a nut and a washer are used instead of a flanged
nut (Figure 2). A TS-H anchor is made of a hexagon bolt with flanged head, a cone shaped
wedging nut and a partially segmented sleeve (Figure 3). Anchors TS-F and TS-R are made
of the same components as TS and TS-SS types respectively, but have sleeve nuts with
cone or cup head (Figures 4 and 5). Anchors TS-K and TS-X are made of the same
components as TS-H, but their threaded is ended with open or closed hook (Figures 6 and
7).
Sleeve anchors S, TS-H, TS-F, TS-R, TS-K and TS-X are made of ordinary carbon
steel and covered with protective zinc plating 5 m thick. TS-SS anchors are made of
stainless steel.
Turning the nut on the threaded stud or turning the bolt into the wedging cone pulls
the cone up through the sleeve, expanding the segmented portion of the sleeve and
anchoring itself securely in base material. Fastening by means of a TS sleeve anchor is
shown in Figure 8.
2. PURPOSE, RANGE AND CONDITIONS OF USE
Sleeve anchors of the S family are used for fastening construction elements with static
loading in non-cracked concrete of the class not lower than C20/25 according to the PN-
EN 206-1:2003 standard, as well as in brickwork made of ceramic solid brick of the class not
lower than 7.5 according to the PN-N 771-1:2005 standard.
For the reason of the corrosive aggressiveness of the environment, TS sleeve
anchors made of zinc plated ordinary carbon steel shall be used according to the
requirements given in the PN-EN ISO 12944-2:2001 and PN-EN 10152:1997 standards;
sleeve anchors made of stainless steel shall be used according to the requirements given
in the PN-71/H-86020 standard for corrosion resistant (stainless or acid resistant)
steel grade H17N13M2T.
The calculated load capacity of fastenings made with use of TS sleeve anchors is
given in Table 2. The spacing of sleeve anchors in base material should comply with the
guidelines given in Figure 9 and Table 3. The installation parameters for the sleeve anchors
A T-15-7277/2014
page 4 of 26
are given in Figure 10 and Table 4.
The load capacity of fastenings using TS-K and TS-X anchors shall be calculated
according to the expression:
Vsd = M·MRk,s/(I· Ms) (1)
where: M = 2,
I = e1 + 0.5d,
MRk,s = 1.2·Ws·fuk,
Ws = ·d3/32,
e1 – length of the force arm (load),
d – diameter of the threaded stud,
fuk – characteristic tensile strength of the threaded stud steel,
Ms =1.5.
A hummer drill should be used to make a hole in concrete or brickwork. The hole
should be drilled perpendicularly to the surface of the base material. The sleeve anchor
should be pushed into the hole with light hits of a hummer only. Fastening should made
using a torque spanner. Care should be taken that the washer under the nut or screw head
be firmly tightened to the element being fastened.
Sleeve anchors shall be arranged according to the design where the requirements of
the respective Polish standards, construction regulations and this Technical Approval, as
well as manufacturer’s guidelines for the conditions of their use have been taken into
consideration.
3. TECHNICAL FEATURES. REQUIREMENTS
