The Steep Falls Bridge Replacement And remember- please pay attention and obey reduced speed limits when driving in work zones or on detour routes. MaineDOT thanks you for driving safely. www.mainedot.gov We know this essential structural work may be inconvenient for motorists. Please allow extra time or seek alternate routes. The 78-year old Steep Falls Bridge , spanning the Saco River on Route 11, will be replaced with a new and wider bridge with a sidewalk. The $2.7 million construction project begins in April and continues through November, 2014. Within that timeframe, there will be a full closure of the current bridge beginning May 12 th and lasting through mid-November. Traffic will be detoured along Routes 11, 25 and 113 during that time. This construction work is weather dependent, so dates may change. The East Limington Bridge , which is on Route 25 and also spans the Saco River, will be rehabilitated next year with a new concrete wearing surface and joint repairs. Construction activity on the East Limington Bridge requires one-way alternating traffic for a maximum of 35 days and is expected to begin in the spring of 2015.
