STEINHARDT FLOODPROTECTION SYSTEM

Page 2: Steinhardt Flood Defence

In recent years Ireland has experiencedlocalised flooding costing millions of euroin damage. With the risk of flooding andsubsequent damage to property likely toincrease, cost effective systems for floodprotection are required for private andcommercial property owners. TheSteinhardt Flood Barrier System wasdeveloped to replace the outdated andlabour intensive “sand bag” method ofproperty protection, to provide a robust, efficient, easy to install flood barrier, simplyfitted along highways, into door openings, warehouse doorways etc.

A stainless steel frame is supplied, completewith base plate and side guide rails. This canbe installed by a local builder and sealed offwhen not in use with stainless steel cover plates. When extreme flooding isforecast, the cover plates can be easilyremoved and the lightweight aluminumpanels are placed into the frame and lockedvia the clamping system. The number ofaluminum panels will depend on theexpected flood levels. The panels aremanufactured from a lightweight extrudedsection which are easily manhandled andstored when not in use.

For highways and along riverbanks etc, stainless steel “post plates” are set into aconcrete base. During flood risk events thepost plates for the Barrier system guide

posts are removed and the posts inserted, they are then securely bolted down creatingthe sealing and location frame for thealuminum sections. The Patented design of the Steinhardtsystem incorporates a special system ofsealing between each panel and the sideguide rails. This produces a sealed barrierconstructed to withstand the maximum headof flood water without allowing any leakage.
