HURRICANE SEASON—6/1 TO 11/30
PREPARE A FAMILY DISASTER PLAN NOW! A well thought-out
plan of action for you and your family can go a long way toward
reducing the damage from hurricanes and other types of
disasters that could strike. Preparing your family disaster plan is
the first step in protecting your household. Before a hurricane
threatens, plan a safe evacuation route and identify safe shelter
space within your area. Contact your local emergency
management office or American Red Cross chapter and ask for
the community preparedness plan. Have disaster supplies on
hand, and check into flood insurance. Homeowners’ policies do
not cover damage from flooding that often accompanies
hurricanes. Call your local insurance agent or the National Flood
Insurance Program at 1-800-638-6620. Be Prepared, Get A Plan!
for this hurricane season.
WHEN A HURRICANE WATCH IS ISSUED:
Fuel your car and make sure you have a manual can opener
Food and Medicine: Keep in your residence a two week supply of nonperishable food that requires no
refrigeration, preparation or cooking and prescription drugs for at least two weeks
Store one gallon of water (two quarts for drinking and two quarts for food preparation and
sanitation) per person per day for a two-week period. A previously sterilized bathtub and other
containers also should be filled with water for sanitary usage
Have cash available, as banks and ATMs may be disabled
Check batteries for portable TV, radio and flashlights and buy extras
Bring in lawn furniture and other loose material outside and on patios
Wedge sliding glass doors to prevent them from lifting from tracks
Make a final decision about staying or evacuating. If you plan to drive to another area consider
leaving now. If you plan to evacuate to a shelter, wait and listen to local news stations for word that
shelters are open
WHEN A HURRICANE WARNING IS ISSUED:
Stay tuned to a local news or weather station for up-to-the-minute information
Implement your personal plan for either remaining on the property or evacuating
The first question you should ask is “Will I stay home or will I leave?” Your final decision will depend on
the potential strength of the storm, the location of your home, your health and, above all and most
importantly, the advice of local emergency planners. If the local emergency planners recommend that
you evacuate, then you should leave!

SUMMER IS COMING SOON
The summer is synonymous with things like barbecues, water parks
and unfortunately, unwelcome critters that can quickly ruin any
backyard party. While you can’t eliminate the risk completely, there
are steps that you can take to control the pest population around your
home and yard.
Maintain routine pest control. When we say “pest control,” we mean that each resident is
responsible for the prevention of ants, crickets, roaches, spiders, scorpions, bees & wasps, rodents
and pigeons
Remove standing water. This includes water that collects in rain gutters, bird baths, flower pot
saucers, kiddie pools, wheelbarrows, decorative yard décor, and more
Keep things tidy, especially in the kitchen where unwashed dishes, crumbs and unsealed food can
quickly attract pests
Seal cracks around molding surrounding exteriors doors, windows and openings in areas where
utilities enter the house or basement
Properly dispose of trash and recycling in your home using the designated bins provided by the
city.
Regularly treat the outside of your home using a pest control substance. Be sure the product is
safe for kids and pets where applicable
We appreciate your attention to maintaining the quality of your home. If you have any questions,
please reach out to your Property Manager who can provide a referral for pest elimination.

Watering, Weeding and Mowing
Stop weeds before they become a
problem by using a pre-emergent
herbicide and mowing your lawn
regularly. Additionally, maintain your
lawn with early morning watering so
the sun can dry the grass. Nighttime
watering can result in prolonged
Bush & Plant Trimming
After receiving approval from your
HOA, purchase plants and bushes that
are low maintenance to avoid excess
water usage. Trimming should occur
often and reflect the natural, healthy
shape of the plant/bush.
Raking Leaves
One way to make leaf cleanup simple is
to invest in a motorized leaf blower and
mulcher. Be sure to tend to leaves
weekly to avoid pile up on both your
yard and your neighbor’s yard.
Exterior Washing
Exterior washing includes keeping your
driveway, fencing, deck, gutters, roof
and the outside walls of home clean. It’s
best to clean these items regularly to
avoid long term problems.
Small Tree Trimming
Just like shrubs, small trees within your
yard need care too. Remove cross
branches or branches that grow
backwards toward the center of the
tree, as well as dying branches that
attract bugs and other inspects.
We appreciate your attention to maintaining the quality of your home. If you have any questions, please
reach out to us, we can provide a referral for landscaping maintenance.
Your Pet Your Mess
Be considered to others, please pick up
after your four legged friend. It is your
responsibility.
