HIGH STREET TRAVEL on the HIGH STREET TRAVEL on the Final thoughts... Now that the Christmas and New Year celebrations are over and winter has set in, it is time to cheer yourselves up by booking a holiday to look forward to. Along with all the advice my agency can offer you, we are repeating our very successful in store promotion days in January and February, the details of which are on the attached information sheet. At these events you will find out more about upcom- ing attractions and offers such as our promotion with Leeds/Bradford Airport whereby anyone booking a holiday valued at over £550 per per- son through my agency in January and February, will receive a compli- mentary Fastrack pass and entrance to the Yorkshire Premier Lounge-a perfect start to your holiday! Throughout January & February we will continue with our recent policy of extending our opening hours on Saturday afternoons until 4 p.m. and on Sundays we will open on an appointment only basis. So for anyone having difficulties getting to our office during normal opening hours I will be more than happy to make myself available for a private and personal discussion of your travel needs for 2015 and beyond. To make an appoint- ment, ring the office no later than Thursday evening prior to the Sunday, to arrange a mutually convenient time. Although the last few months have been generally quieter we do have a number of things to report on relating to my business and the village. At the end of September Bradford Council at last gave their approval for a car park on the site of the Wibsey Fairground. Although a slightly smaller version than the original plans, this will hope- fully be better than nothing. Keep your fingers crossed that the work will start in 2015. In October we held a cruise promotion Thornton and at the end of November a Coach Holiday promotion day cluded a 2 course lunch and enter- tainment at Nidd Hall. The events were part of the continuing celebra- tion of our 25 years trading with two quality companies we are keen to support. At the beginning of December we start- ed a refurbishment programme. The office has been re- decorated, a new carpet laid and we are now display- ing some fabulous photographs from holiday destinations around the world. All the work has been carried out by local businesses and photographs provided by one of my very loyal customers. So with all we have put in place for January and February you have no excuses not to pay us a visit! We look forward to seeing you soon. As I have found in my agency, the past 12 months has been mixed changing in response to world events. However, holidays still remain im- portant to the British pub- lic and the main reason time has overtaken son for taking a holiday. There has also been a slight increase in the numbers of people taking a holiday both overseas and in the U.K. but the biggest increase has been in the numbers who are returning from booking -It-Yourself holi- holiday. The main reasons given for this is the value in having everything tak- en care of. The top 10 elements con- sidered when booking a holiday were: *Safe and secure accom- modation standards *Financial Protection Scheme *ATOL protection *Booking with a member of ABTA *Knowledgeable staff *Greatest value for money *Ease of transportation to the airport *The range of holidays on offer *A well- known name in the travel industry *Lowest prices The top ten types of holi- day booked during the past year were: city breaks, beach holi- days, all inclusive holi- days, lakes and mountains, trips to music events, cruise and coach holidays, activi- ty and sporting holidays, train holidays and trips to major sporting events. My confidence in my agen- cy grows as I read the re- port. We know that we can organise all of the holiday types mentioned and tai- lor make holidays for sin- gle travellers through to large groups. Above all we continue to pride our- selves in offering all the important holiday ele- ments to suit every indi- vidual client. We are able to issue poli- cies with a starting cost of £18.15 for a single trip and £49.92 for an annual policy, these prices include IPT and can be organised at the point of sale of a holiday. Following research which found that a growing num- ber of travellers are trav- elling overseas without insurance, ABTA is warn- ing about the dangers of this and the risks in- volved. Whilst the FCO will do what they can to support people in difficul- ties when abroad they cannot cover medical bills or fly people home. These costs can run into thou- sands. For example: An X ray in Corfu or stitch- es in Tenerife can cost £500 An MRI scan in Ibiza can be £1,000 Air ambulance from South- ern Spain can be £25,000 (all facts and figures were sourced on the 22/10/2014 from www.abta.com) Titan see the World differently 2 Where my custom- ers go on holiday 2 Chaos on the M62 3 Cruise updates River Cruising 3 Scotland 3 Hoseasons Holidays 4 Final Thoughts 4 Inside this issue: January 2015 Issue 25 210 High Street Wibsey Bradford BD6 1QP Tel : 01274 691409 Stephen Howard T/A STEPHEN HOWARD TRAVEL is an appointed representative of ITC Compliance Limited which is authorised and regulated by the FCA (their registration number is 313486) and which is permitted to advise on and arrange general insurance contracts. • Anyone travelling from Manchester Airport over the next 18 months be-ware! The M62 to Manchester is going through a similar transition to the one we have experienced locally between Bradford and Leeds with the managed motorway concept. We would therefore strongly recommend you allow much more time for your journey and in the case of flights pri-or to 11.00a.m. would strongly sug-gest you consider the many over-night hotel options available at Man-chester Airport all bookable with my agency. We book the hotels located within the perimeter of the airport such as the Radisson Blu, Hilton, Bewleys

and Crowne Plaza along with more economical options such as the Premier Inns and Britannia Country House. Rates available for just hotel only or to include car park-ing can be obtained and usually, with the hotels within a 15-20 mi-nute drive of the airport, these in-clude return transfers. Looking for a recommendation? We would suggest you look no further than the Etrop Grange Hotel, only minutes from the airport but due to the road network you would be ad-vised to use their complimentary transfers rather than attempting to walk with your suitcases. It is unlike an airport hotel and has a very nice

restaurant if you want to start your holiday in style. Rates alter depending on the time of year and availability. At the Etrop Grange you should expect to pay around £100 to include the overnight stay based on room only and 7 nights car parking. Early indications are that hotel ac-commodation will be in demand over this period so our suggestion would be to do this sooner rather than later and of course through my agency!

Groats from £209pp for 4 nights din-ner bed and breakfast with 2 and a half days of excursions included. If you prefer to travel by train, then Rail Discoveries offer a comprehen-sive range of tours. From £495pp for a 6 day fully escorted tour you can

iconic railways- Considered to be one of

the train travels through areas only accessible by train, passing Rannoch, Ben Nevis and the Glenfinnan Via-duct. This is followed by an excursion

As it is now definite that we will not require a passport to travel to our dear neighbour, why not consider a break to this country of diverse land-scapes with its breath-taking moun-tains soaring over gleaming lochs, vibrant cities and exciting culture? Alfa Coach Holidays offer a 4 night hotel stay with dinner bed and breakfast in the Bridge of Allan with a guided tour of Edinburgh and Glasgow at a starting price of £219 pp. Or travel to the most northern

on the Jacobite Steam Train, a coach tour of the Isle of Skye as well as pre and post tour stays in Glasgow. And then of course the not-to-be missed Edinburgh Military Tattoo is bookable through a range of opera-tors. For example Shearings in-clude a trip to Edinburgh and tick-ets to the tattoo with some of their coach holidays to Scotland such as The Bay Tarbet Hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond from £399pp with 4 nights half board. For details of these and many more just give us a call!

year with more facilities and opu-lence.

Uniworld River Cruises will launch Maria Theresa in Spring to sail tulip-time cruises followed by Amsterdam and Budapest in summer complete with indoor swimming pool, cinema and leopard themed bar.

Emerald Waterways are launching Emerald Sun and Emerald Dawn cruising Between Amsterdam and

Budapest and Amsterdam and Basel respectively and Avalon will base their new Avalon Tapestry in France to sail the Seine from Paris.

For a different French itinerary, Criosi Europ has designed a shallow-draft 96 passenger vessel to sail the Loire.

With so much on offer please see our enclosed flyer which explains why using a travel agent is a wise option.

With ever -more exotic itineraries and combined cruise and stay op-tions, river cruising is now attracting more and more clients including a younger audience.

Though British clients still book predominantly Rhine and Danube cruises, there is a wide range of op-tions available including cruises on The Mississippi, Ganges and Me-kong with varying durations as many new craft enter operation this
