PERSONAL Age: 34 Married to: Julia Paulsen – 10 years (December 27, 2003) Children: Grayson - 6, Asher - 4, Kerrick - 2 Interests: The Paulsen’s enjoy spending quality family time together. This time together takes on vari-ous activities like surfing, walking on the beach, snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking, fishing, playing and watching all major forms of sports (Baseball, Football, Hockey, Basketball, Soccer, etc.).

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS Stephen is a Navy Veteran and has been involved with ministry (in a leadership role) for 10 years, including 7 years in a full time Pastoral capacity. In addition to Stephen’s ministry employment, Julia has also had a role in church leadership. Julia is a Children’s ministry veteran and currently employed as the Families Pastor at RockHarbor Church’s Fullerton campus. Julia has been working in and serving as the lead Children’s Pastor for over 10 years. She has authored numerous lessons for David C. Cook Publishing and plans to continue writing and serving alongside Stephen. We are a ministry family!

SPECIFIC MINISTRY EXPERIENCE Pacific Coast Church – San Clemente, CA (2013 – 2014) (Average Attendance 1,000-1,500) Website: Pacific Coast Church Student Ministries Pastor Responsibilities: 1. Reaching:

• Develop and implement a strategy to reach students @ SCHS & surrounding high schools in the area.

• Use social media, technology, etc. to reach students on campus. • Develop and implement a strategy to follow up with visitors and new Christians.

2. Growing: • Develop & preach biblical messages that are engaging and deepen a students walk with Jesus. • Develop student leaders, giving them the opportunity to use serve and lead within the HSM. • Train adult leaders on a regular basis to be better equipped to serve in High School Ministry. • Provide individual counsel for students and leaders when necessary.

3. Connecting: • Provide social gatherings for students that are outside the scope of Reaching and Growing. • Spend time individually with male students to develop a personal connection. • Attend events that students are involved in outside of youth group. • Promote female leaders to meet with high school girls on a consistent basis. • Use social media, technology, etc. to connect with students and network them together.

Accomplishments: 1. Through restructuring, I was able to create an environment conducive to invitation and spiritual

growth. 2. I have been able to establish a vibrant Student Leadership Team to help with vision, event

planning, and teaching. 3. I have been available for and connected with students at sporting games. 4. I led numerous students to Christ and through the baptism process.

High School and College Pastor Responsibilities:

1. Leadership: Develop and articulate purpose, goals, vision and direction for the High School and College Ministries. Recruit, equip, evaluate and encourage volunteer youth and adult staff. Develop lay leaders who can love and lead students effectively one-on-one and in small groups.

2. Teaching & Worship: Serve as a motivating, inspiring and engaging teacher to students on a regular/weekly basis as part of a larger plan for the spiritual development. Lead and developed a student ministry worship program.

3. Administration: Develop short and long-term goals and plans for the ministry, develop and implement an annual calendar of activities and programs which are inclusive and promote relationship development and discipleship at levels appropriate to the group. Provide the overall planning, organization and implementation of programs and activities. Develop and manage the annual budget for High School and College Ministries. Be responsive to communication demands, which arise through personal interaction, email, and telephone contacts.

4. Relationship: Develop relationships with students, volunteers, staff, parents and others that are meaningful and promote community and discipleship. Develop a climate for our students that is safe, supportive, and cultivates spiritual growth. Address specific personal and spiritual needs of students as they arise through one-on-one or small group meetings, hospital visits, or other connection appropriate to the circumstance.

5. Pastoral Ministry Team: Serve with a team of pastoral staff members by leading the congregation and assist in the overall development of SVCC and it's programs.

6. Outreach: Develop and implement local outreach efforts that engage students in community service and provide opportunities for them to share their faith with others. Over the last 5 years, I developed and implemented short-term mission trip(s) to Tijuana, Mexico and Northwest Haiti, which expanded students’ view of the world and experientially grew their faith in God.

Achievements: • I have successfully led 4 teams of 50+ students and leaders to Tijuana, Mexico during the

summers of 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. o Mission to Mexico Video Example

• I successfully led a team of 20 High school and College Students to Northwest Haiti to aid in the earthquake rebuilding projects in June of 2010.

• I organized and executed numerous fundraisers for all of our mission trips. • I've had the honor of serving as a “Guest Chapel Speaker" at Monte Vista Christian School in

Watsonville, CA 4 times between 2011- 2013. • I have had a numerous opportunities to speak in the Main Sunday Morning Services. • Beginning in 2008, I developed and implemented a successful and thriving Student Leadership

Associate Youth Minster (Full-Time) Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrate a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 2. Develop effective planning and organizational skills. 3. Develop effective, relevant communication with students, parents, volunteers and staff. 4. Develop the ability to effectively assess and implement innovative methods and programs to

enhance the youth ministry. 5. Have a flexible, dedicated, dependable and highly motivated personality. 6. Foster networking among local churches and youth workers. 7. Recruit, organize, supervise and train volunteers. 8. Plan and help plan activities for the youth, ranging from middle school to high school age,

including Sunday school and weeknight youth class. This is to include – monthly events, retreats, camps, or other special activities.

9. Provide a weekly youth service that is worshipful, fun, relevant, and effective in instructing, training, and nurturing.

10. Attend weekly staff meetings endeavoring to work closely with other Pastor's to coordinate the youth activities, calendar, and vision with all other areas of church life.

11. Rise up effective mentors for youth and from the youth. 12. Design and encourage opportunities to serve locally and internationally.

Achievements: • Through being involved with same ministry for 5+ years I was blessed to have been able to

meet all requirements that were asked of me. • I successfully discipled students and leaders and now (by God's grace), am still watching them

grow. • I spent the time to learn the names, faces, and schools of all of our students in the ministry.

Student Ministries Intern Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Student Ministries Pastor in all events, including Wednesday night and Sunday morning Bible studies for high school ministry.

2. Lead Junior High Programming on Wednesday night and Sunday Morning meetings. 3. Develop and implement an outreach and small group ministry. 4. Teach Sunday school and weeknight classes for Junior High students that incorporate Biblical

principles that directly apply to their lives. 5. Provide opportunities for one-on-one meetings with the youth for the purpose of developing

personal relationships. 6. Develop an effective follow-up program for new comers with the hope of maintaining a high level

of interest. 7. Encourage and provide resources to the parents of our teenagers. 8. Create and oversee various outreach events such as lock-ins, game nights, concerts, camps

(summer and winter), etc. Achievements:

• God blessed our efforts through growing our ministry by 300% • I was able to effectively gain the trust of students and their parents by leading with integrity and

excellence. • I led numerous students to Christ and through the baptism process. • I successfully led and helped lead students in all extra events, including high school and middle

school summer and winter camps. • Developed discipleship relationships with students.

Highlights and Extra Achievements: 1. In June of 2007, I was ordained as a Minister. 2. Southern California Youth for Christ puts on a yearly leadership conference for students at Biola

University called Turn Your Campus. I have had the privilege to be a guest lecturer in the break out sessions of this conference for the years 2007 - 2011.

3. During the 2012 - 2013 school year, I had the honor of Assistant Coach for the Boys Varsity Basketball team at North Salinas High School.

4. Through Volunteering and working, God has given me 10 years (including 7 full time years) of wonderful experience in how to lead an effective vibrant ministry.
