Position Overview

Project Support Officer, Biosecurity Operations

The Project Support Officer supports the Program Manager, Biosecurity Operations and other staff in the unit to deliver key projects which will achieve ongoing, long-term improvement of the interoperability, capability and regulatory functions within the Biosecurity and Agriculture Services branch. The applicant will work as a member of a team and undertake a variety of work to support the unit and business areas.

What you will do

Support the unit in a range of administrative and project tasks, including supporting organisation of meetings, processing of standard paperwork and assisting in production of key documents.

Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with team members and with a range of stakeholders across Biosecurity Operations.

Assist in project planning, monitoring and reporting activities. This could involve working on a range of projects including: a pilot program for the training and induction of new authorised officers; a safety review; and / or coordination projects across Biosecurity Operations that will ensure preparedness to respond to marine pest incursion, food safety incident, and other biosecurity incidents.

Become familiar with and apply OH&S policies and procedures for a safe work environment.

What we are looking for

The ability to support team members on project tasks, for example organising meetings, communicating with Biosecurity Operations staff, assisting in the preparation of project documents and carrying out business processes as required (eg assisting with booking of courses and accommodation, recording expenses, etc).

A willingness to communicate promptly and clearly with team members to identify and address any problems as they arise.

The ability to gather and interpret information and draw upon this to contribute to high quality project outcomes.

The ability to develop positive relationships with team members.

Enthusiasm and a willingness to take on tasks to help and support the team and the business.

Politics, Policy, Business and Science (Agricultural Science)

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

Australian citizens only

Identify as having disability

Candidates may be required to undergo a background check security clearance
