Steps  for  Registering  in  Mastering  

The  steps  below  show  example  images  for  registering  in  Mastering  Chemistry.    However,  the  steps  for  registering  in  the  other  mastering  platforms  will  be  the  same.  

 Before  you  begin  you  should  have  the  following  information  handy:  

•  The  access   code   for   registering   in   the  appropriate  mastering  platform.     This   code  will   have  been   sent   to  you  after  you  requested  access  to  the  mastering  site.      

• Your  9-­‐digit  Ryerson  Student  ID  Number.        

1. Go  to  the  appropriate  mastering  site:  a. For  chemistry:  www.masteringchemistry.com    b. For  biology:  www.masteringbiology.com    c. For  physics:  www.masteringphysics.com  

 2. When  you  are  at  the  mastering  site  click  on  Student  in  the  Register  Now  area.    An  example  of  Mastering  Chemistry  is  

shown  below.  

 

 

 

 

 

 3. The  next  screen  will  ask  you  if  you  have  3  things  ready  (email,  course  id,  access  code).    Skip  to  the  next  step  by  

selecting  In  US  or  Canada  under  the  Select  Your  Location  area.    

4. The  next  screen  asks  if  you  have  a  Course  ID  from  your  instructor.    Select  Yes,  I  have  a  course  ID  and  then  the  appropriate  ID  from  the  list  below.      

a. For  chemistry:  ryechems2015  b. For  biology:  ryebios2015  c. For  physics:  ryephys2015    

5. Then  click  Go.        

6. The  Course  ID  should  become  green.    Click  Next.                      

7. The  next  screen  asks  if  you  have  an  access  code.    Select  Yes,  I  have  an  access  code  and  then  click  Next.    

8. You  should  now  see  the  license  agreement.    Click  I  Accept  at  the  bottom.    

9. When  asked  if  you  have  a  Pearson  account,  select  No  (unless  you  have  created  a  mastering  account  before).    Your  screen  will  look  like  the  image  below.  

 10. Follow  the  instructions  for  creating  a  Login  Name  and  Password.    You  may  select  any  Login  Name  and  Password  that  

you  want  as  long  as  they  are  available  and  meet  the  necessary  criteria.    

11. Enter  the  Access  Code  that  was  supplied  by  the  automatic  response  you  received  when  you  submitted  the  access  request  form.    Note:  there  is  a  button  that  you  can  select  in  order  to  copy  and  paste  the  code  you  received  instead  of  typing  it  out.  

 12. Once  your  Login  Name,  Password,  and  Access  Code  have  been  entered,  click  Next.  

   

13. You  should  see  the  following  screen.    This  example  is  from  Mastering  Chemistry.  

 14. For  the  Personal  Information  section:  

a. Enter  the  First  Name  and  Last  Name  that  you  have  used  with  Ryerson  University  b. Enter  a  valid  email  address.    If  you  have  a  Ryerson  email  address  already  then  use  it  here.  

 15. For  the  School  Location  section:  

a. Select  Canada  as  your  country.    You  will  then  be  asked  for  School  Province.  b. Select  Ontario.    You  will  then  be  asked  for  your  School  Name.  c. Select  Ryerson  University  

 16. Complete  the  Security  Question  section  by  selecting  a  Security  Question  and  then  entering  an  answer.  

 17. Click  Next.  

 18. A  Confirmation  and  Summary  page  should  now  appear.    Click  the  Log  in  Now  button  to  login  in  to  mastering.  

 19. You  will  be  asked  if  you  received  a  Course  ID  from  your  instructor.    Click  Yes  and  then  enter  the  appropriate  code  

from  below.  Then  click  Continue.  a. For  chemistry:  ryechems2015  b. For  biology:  ryebios2015  c. For  physics:  ryephys2015  

   

20. You  will  be  asked  to  enter  your  Student  ID.    Enter  your  9-­‐digit  Ryerson  Student  ID.    Then  click  Continue.  

   

21. You  should  now  be  at  the  home  page  for  your  mastering.    Congratulations!
