. 1.Initial position

DESIGN AND BUILDING OF A CAROUSEL

Design and build the scale model of a carousel

 

The attraction will have movement when using a crank.

 

From the crank, movement will be transmitted by transmission reducer mechanisms. You could put and use other mechanisms to transmit movement.

The structure of the attraction will be built totally or partially with a system of triangle bars to support it.

1.1.Initial conditions.

The materials to be used will be: plywood, chipboard, wire, cardboard, paper, recycling material, card and the electrical components necessary for the circuit.

 

You must design the attraction having in mind the possible installation of a simple electrical circuit.

 

The maximum dimensions of your scale model will be:

 

• Length: 300 mm

• Width: 300 mm

• Height: 350 mm

2. Searching for information

• We look for information: spealized books, on the internet, classmates,magazines…

3.1Threedimentional drawing

• You draw in an A3 size using perspective.

3.2 Sketches

You draw the pieces with pencil, without ruler but with their measures.

3.3. Every piece’s plan (DIN A4 paper)

• You must use ruler and the scale.

• You draw the main views: front, plan and left view.

4. Planning and organization

4.1 Processing worksheet.

• You have to write all about materials, sizes, tools, machines, approximate time, people in charge of doing the operation…

This phase consists of the construction of the model.
