Steps to setup meter reading upload in Maximo
1. In the Organization (Tr) Select Action menu, go to Transportation options, Fuel Transactions
Import Setup.
2. In the Fuel Transactions Import Setup dialog, create a new template –
METER_READ_IMPORT and add columns to the template with sequence as shown below.

3. Check the Active checkbox on the template and click ok.
Steps to upload meter reading in Maximo
1. Create a text file in notepad and enter the values separated by comma, for the 4 columns
selected in the METER_READ_IMPORT template created above. The format for the datetime
column must be as shown in the screenshot or else the upload will fail.

2. Save the text file as Meter_Readings.csv
3. In Maximo, go to the Fuel Transaction Import (Tr) application in the Data Import (Tr)
module.
4. In the select action menu, select Import File
5. In the Import File dialog -
a. Select the METER_READ_IMPORT template
b. Check the Import Meter Readings? Checkbox
c. Select the Site for imported readings
d. Upload the Meter_Readings.csv in the File table.

6. Click ok to upload the file. Once the file is uploaded, system prompts the number of readings
that were imported from the file.
At this point the meter readings have not been saved on the asset, they are only imported in
the Fuel Transactions Import (Tr) application. System doesn’t check for any incorrect input
or if any required attribute is missing at this point.
7. Select the Create Meter Reading option under the Imported Meter Readings menu in the
select action.
Before creating the meter readings in Asset, any corrections or changes to the imported
reading can be done using the Edit Imported Meter Readings option under the Imported
Meter Readings menu in the select action.
8. In the Create Meter Readings, Click Create Readings

Once the processing is completed, the system shows the number of records that were
processed successfully and those that didn’t. The record with error can be corrected from
the Edit Imported Meter Readings dialog under the Imported Meter Readings menu in the
select action.

9. Close the dialog. Confirm the meter readings in Asset.
