Widdowson just completed his eleventh year as Head Coach of the Millersville Marauders. In his eleven years at the helm, he has compiled a record of 138-68-17. Widdowson has guided the program to new heights as the team broke the school record for wins in 2008 going 18-3-1. The team followed up with a 17-3 record in 2009 and also earned its first ever National #1 ranking! In 2011, he guided the team to the programs first ever PSAC Championship, second NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship and first ever appearance in the NCAA Final Four.
Coach Widdowson has coached 33 All PSAC Players, 31 NSCAA Regional All-Americans and 3 NSCAA National All-Americans, along with being named Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year and PSAC Coach of the Year three times each. The Marauders have made it to at least the PSAC Semi Finals in ten of Widdowson’s eleven years and have made the PSAC Conference Final four times and the D II NCAA tournament five times.
Widdowson has also been the assistant coach for the USL Pro Harrisburg City Islanders for the past fourteen seasons. In 2007, Widdowson helped the team win the USL Div. II National Championship by defeating the defending champion Richmond Kickers. In 2011, he again helped guide the team to the National Championship, unfortunately falling in penalty kicks to Orlando City. In 2014, the Islanders returned to the USL championship before falling to Sacramento.
Prior to his coaching career, Widdowson played at Rutgers University, where he led the team to the 1994 NCAA Division I Final Four and claimed the Atlantic 10 Championship. Widdowson played professional soccer for five years in the USL.
Widdowson has earned a USSF ‘B’ and NSCAA ‘Premier’ License as well as an NSCAA Level II Goalkeeping Diploma.
