Introduction
Brazil is located in South America and is home to 200.4 million people. Brazil is a modern and
progressive country. Brazil has many large and iconic cities know worldwide. One of Brazil’s
biggest pass times is soccer recently just hosting the FIFA World cup. It is the world’s 5th largest
country by population and by size. Brazil has a coastal line of 4,655 mi. Brazil is home to the
Amazon Rainforest which is 2.124 million mi².
The Amazon Rainforest is home to 10% of all species now in the world. The amazon is suffering
from deforestation. Not only is deforestation higher than it has ever been it also is producing
unseen problems. Deforestation done by loggers, ranchers, and farmers have opened up the flood
gates to the strong armed robberies, and faulty titles for land. Logging of the Amazon has
produced 1,000 of miles of unauthorized roads being built. Many people have taken over these
roads for squatting, farming, and ranching.
My company Amazon H2O plans to help eliminate deforestation. Amazon H2O has partnered
with a Hydro Flask a company out of Bend Oregon to design signature Amazon H2O Brazil
water bottles. All proceeds will go to help stop deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest. Tax
refundable donations can also be made on our website savetherainforest.com. We also offer
volunteers to help represent our brand though a social media campaign.
The Amazon Rainforest is being destroyed as we speak and it is up to us to make the change.
We cannot risk the amount of wildlife and plant life that call the Amazon Rainforest home. Not
to mention the three million indigenous people who call the amazon home. We must stop corrupt
governments and businesses that are destroying the Amazon Rainforest.

Issue
As you reading this thousands of acres of the Amazon Rainforest are being destroyed. The
deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest is growing on an unexplainable level. This is due to Soy
bean producers, loggers, and Ranchers using the tress or the land to make a profit. The
government is ill-equipped to fight these large corporation or have been bought off by the large
corporations. If someone does not put a stop to this, the Amazon Rainforest may be completely
destroyed.
Deforestation of the Rainforest is growing at an exponential rate. According to “National
Geographic Magazine." During the past 40 years, close to 20 percent of the Amazon rain forest
has been cut down—more than in all the previous 450 years since European colonization began.
These number also may not be perfect, this does not account for selective logging. Selective
logging is much harder to locate and record when compared to clear cuts. The rainforest
produces half of its own rain water by releasing water into the atmosphere through precipitation.
The clear cutting of trees is decreasing this, and reducing the amount of water in the rivers up to
40 feet. Many villages where left stranded, because they travel manly by boat.
The main start of deforestation started with an unauthorized road being built through the
Amazon. With exception to a few federal and state highways including the east-west Trans-
Amazon Highway all other road where created by logger illegally. These roads are referred to as
the “Soy Highway”, they are used by soy farmers, rancher, and loggers to access the land they
are using in the Rainforest. According to “National Geographic Magazine." More than 105,000
miles of these roads where made illegally by loggers to allow them to reach valuable mahogany
and other hardwoods for export.
The destruction and issues do not end when the loggers are done using the land. The land is
infested with squatters, farmers, rancher, and hired guns. These hired guns are known as land
sharks they trek deep into the amazon and stiff arm and steal land previously used in logging.
They destroy any marking or sign of previous ownership and claim it as their own. Strategies for
stealing land are strong arm or fraudulent titles. This has become such an epidemic in Brazil it
has been named grigalem which is from the Portuguese word grilo, meaning cricket (“National
Geographic Magazine."). When titles where reviewed 62,000 claims came back as fraud.
Deforestation of the Rainforest is a major issue with many effects some very clear others not so
much. Deforestation effects both the environment and the people of Brazil. Logging and clear
cutting has opened the door to unauthorized ranching, farming, squatting, and stiff arming of
land. A floodgate of issues has been opened and without change it could spiral out of control
with lasting effects. Organizations such as my own fight to make a change and defeat
deforestation.

Non- Profit Name Amazon H2O
Mission Statement
Saving the Amazon Rainforest one bottle at a time.
What We Do
Amazon H2O is a non-profit organization with the goal to help save the Rainforest. The Amazon
Rainforest suffers badly from massive deforestation. The Brazilian government struggles to fight
the problem due to corruption and ill-equipped staff. This is a serious issue and can spiral out of
control if not stopped.
This is where my company Amazon H2O comes in, my company plans to partner with local
company located in Bend, Oregon Hydro Flask. Hydro Flask is a producer of high quality water
bottles designed to keep cold liquids cold and hot liquids hot. We plan to partner with Hydro
Flask to design a Brazil Inspired bottle with a Brazil flag, our logo, and Brazil themed colors. All
proceeds from the bottles will be donated in order to help stop deforestation of the Amazon
Rainforest. Bottles will be manufactured in Brazil and sold both in the United States and Brazil.
Bottles will come in many sizes 21 oz, 32 oz, and 64 oz.
Now we understand not everyone can afford a water bottle so we also offer tax refundable

`We plan to partner with Hydro flask for production of our water bottles. We think with their
reputation and high quality products will be a perfect match with our brand. We think their wide
variety of products will help to suit our needs in designing a Brazil themed water bottle.
We also plan to work with other non- profits and the Brazilian government to make sure the
money that is being donated ends up in the right place. Our job is to collect the money, then
funnel it to the organizations fighting deforestation. We will be partnering with the Rainforest
Foundation to help our funds end up in the right hands.
Geographical Area Analysis
Introduction
The Amazon Rainforest one of Brazil’s most impressive landmarks, spanning 2124 square miles
(sciencekids.co.nz). This impressive landmark it sadly in danger due to deforestation. The
amazon rainforest is home to 40,000 plant species, 427 mammals, 1,300 birds, 378 reptiles, more
than 400 amphibians, and around 3,000 freshwater fish according to (Amazon Wildlife) Brazil is
home to 200.4 million people. Due to lack of space and resources, the Amazon rainforest and it
vast array of species are in danger due to deforestation. Here’s how we can help, I plan to sell
stuffed animals in the United States and Brazil of the animals in danger in the Rainforest. Each
animal will have a hand stitched Brazilian flag on the paw, sewed by hand by locals. I also plan
to sell traditional Brazilian style bracelets with animal beads on them of endanger animals of the
Rainforest. I feel we can help teach and appreciate about Brazil’s Location, Climate, Culture, and
Topography.
Location
Brazil’s has a coastline of 16,145 km making distribution for our trade area a breeze. Many port
access points make exporting and importing products a breeze. Brazil is only slightly smaller
than the United States making it very accessible by air and sea. Harsh sea conditions may be a
challenge for import and export of goods, however this can be overcome by moving goods by
air. Brazil is very tropical making it an ideal place for people to travel.
Climate
Brazil is mostly tropical, but tends to get some temperature in the south. ( "South America ::
Brazil." Central Intelligence Agency. Central Intelligence Agency, 01 Mar. 2016. Web. 10 Apr.
2016.). Brazil is located in the Equatorial climate zone, this makes it more humid. There is no
winter season in Brazil or a dry season, Brazil tends to suffer from heavy rain and precipitation.
This may cause some issue when importing goods due to high frequency of tropical storms.
("BRAZIL." Brazil Climate. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Apr. 2016.)
Steven Renfro Brazil
8
Topography
Brazil mostly consist of consist of flat rolling lowlands in the north, some plains, Mountains, and
narrow coast lines according to ("South America :: Brazil." Central Intelligence Agency. Central
Intelligence Agency, 01 Mar. 2016. Web. 10 Apr. 2016.) This will cause no conflict with our
plans for distribution. Brazil has a high amount of natural resources, but one that stands out as a
benefit is hydropower. This may provide a self-sustainable company when regarding to power,
while staying environmentally healthy.
Conclusion
With such a major environmental landmark at risk it’s out duty to protect the wildlife and plant
life. Brazil is a perfect headquarters due to its large costal lines making distribution a breeze.
Brazil’s Tropical climate makes it a great vacation place and a great tourist destination. A
relatively flat Topography helps with easy distribution in any weather condition. I feel our
company will help do our part to better the environment, and world.

Description of Imports
Brazil has such a large mining industry, they have a high need for machinery. Brazil is one of the
largest producers Ores. However Brazil lacks oil, Brazil is not an oil rich country. This results in
them needing oil imported. Brazil consumes a large amount of oil due to its large mining
industry. Brazil lacks Electronics, they are not a large producer of electronics. This result in them
needing to import lots of electronics. Brazil tends to have higher prices for electronics, partly to
the lack of production in Brazil, and large taxation on imported electronics. Brazil is a large
manufacture of automobiles, due to this Brazil imports a large amount of automotive parts.

Brazil does not have a large issue with Scarcity, however they due lack oil. This is a huge
disadvantage when it comes to their economy. Brazil consume a large amount of oil in there
agriculture and mining industries.
Balance of Payments
Brazil has a trade surplus, however it is very close to being neutral.
Trade Balance
A deficiency in trade has a negative effect on your country. A country needs to have a balance of
the amount it imports and exports. Ideally a country should export more than it imports, a
country’s goal is to profit more than it spends.
Exchange Rates
According to Investopedia an exchange rate is “the value of one currency for the purpose of
conversion to another.” (Investopedia.com). This is important to a business, because having a
higher exchange rate in your country means your money is worth more than the money of other
countries. Depending on your countries exchange rate you countries profit margins can increase
or decrease.

Trade Laws
Introduction
Brazil is very strict on import and exports. Brazil has high taxes on many important commodities
such as electronics and oil. Brazil has agreements for discounts on tax for neighboring countries.
Brazil had embargoes placed on them due to deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest. Brazil also
has free trade agreements with many countries.
Tariffs or Taxes
Countries bordering Brazil are part of the Southern Common Market, this makes them exempt
from import tax from Brazil. The import tax ranges from 0% to 20%, also import taxes change
depending on what the items are. Items valued more valuable to Brazil are taxed less. Brazil had
high tariffs mostly on electronics.
Trade Laws
Steven Renfro Brazil
20
Import Taxes – Brazil tend to have higher import taxes compared to other countries. They have
a very high import taxes on electronics and oil. This is due to a lack of these resources. Brazil’s
sale tax ranges from 0% to 20%.
Trade Agreements- Brazil has trade agreements with neighboring countries, this agreement
called Southern Common Market allow boarding countries a discount on tax. Brazil also has a
free trade agreement with Russia, China, and India.
Embargoes- Brazil has many embargos on them for exportation of beef. Argentina, Iran, and
Egypt all have embargos on Brazil. Brazil’s Beef industry is killing the Amazon Rainforest
through deforestation. Trees are being cut down to make room for cattle ranches, because of this
theses countries have place embargos on Brazil.
Population
Brazil is the perfect places to start and expand my business. Brazil has many densely populated
cities making it a good place to expand my business. Brazil has a deep concern with their
environment and conserving it. Brazil has many young people, which I feel meets our target
market well. Brazil has a very close ratio of men to women, however my company will appeal to
both men and women.
Total Population
Total Population: 204,259,812
Growth Rate
Steven Renfro Brazil
21
Brazil’s growth rate is similar to the US. the increase in growth rate could result in a higher
profit. A growth similar to the United States is ideal.
Birth Rate
My country has a slightly higher birth rate than the USA, I feel this may be due to a change in
family dynamics, smaller families and women taking on a career role.
Life Expectancy Rates
Steven Renfro Brazil
22
Brazils has a slightly lower life expectancy than the United States and Germany. I think may be
due to a weaker economy, a less developed health care system, and a lower purchasing power.
Distribution of Population
My business target market is the middle aged men and women. According to the graphs Brazil
has a decent population of men and women of the middle age. Brazil has slightly less than the
United States I think this may due with the slightly smaller size of Brazil.

The United States is one of the biggest Consumers of meat worldwide. Brazil falls in a pretty
average category for meat consumption, they are right on par with Germany and the United
Kingdom comparable Countries.
Percent of Children Underweight
Brazil has slightly more underweight children when compared to other countries, this may be
due to the large amounts of slums in the larger cities in Brazil. The United States, Germany, and
the United Kingdom are pretty average on percent of underweight children.
Daily Calorie Intake per Capita

The United States as expected consumes more calories than average, but Brazil is pretty average
and on par with Germany and the United Kingdom.
Housing and Communication
Introduction
Even with the urban development in Brazil, the living conditions and housing supply are still
subpar. Most houses are small and urban, so they lack the need of multiple televisions and lots of
furniture. Due to the large and crowed urban areas many do not drive cars, but use public
transportation. Houses in Brazil are primarily rented, most people do not own, the one’s that do
own are usually a demographic of older people who have owned for years. Brazil has large sums
and many houses lack piped water and electricity.
Typical Housing Structures
According to ("Brazil - Housing.") 80% of all housing are detached houses made from brick,
stone, wood or concrete. Less than 10% of housing are apartments, and less than 10% are rural
houses mad of clay or wood.

Overview
The amount of cars in Brazil has doubled in the last ten years. Brazil reached 80 million cars this
year for the first time in forever. Brazil also has one of the largest amounts of motorcycles on the
road than anywhere in the world. With a growing middle class the average family is more
capable of buying a car and financing it. Brazil is a large producer of automobiles and
automobile parts. The automobile growth in Brazil is on
the growth of 7.8%
Transport Analysis
Steven Renfro Brazil
28
There is a large amount of roads that are unpaved compared to pave in Brazil. This may cause a
higher need for automotive maintenance, and make a motorcycle a better option. This could also
limit the size of trucks used for delivery of goods.
Due to the large coastal regions of Brazil there is a large amount of seaports. Brazil also has a
respectful amount of airports. This is a large benefit for importing and exporting goods.

Education
General Description
Brazil’s school system is broken down into three parts, however it is very different then we do it.
Kids ages 6 to 14 attended elementary school, kids ages 15 to 17 attended high school, and lastly
further school like college is optional. All though students are supposed to attend school many
who live in rural areas work instead of going to school. Most schools lack plumbing and heating.
Due to this many people are illiterate.
Enrollment Rate
Brazil has more high school students than
the United States Currently. This may be
due to an increased dropout rate in the
United States.
Brazil had less people attending college
when compare to the United States. This
may be due to the lack of universities in
Brazil when compared to the United
States.
Steven Renfro Brazil
32
Literacy Rates
Brazil’s Literacy’s rate is lower than the United States, this could be due to the large industries in
agriculture and mining. There are also a large amount of rural land this may be a factor to the
lack of literate people.
Brazil’s second education time is longer than the United States, this may be due to lack of
resources compared to the United States.
Steven Renfro Brazil
33
Evaluation
I feel Brazil’s education system may be slightly less impressive as the United States. This is
partly due to the lack of resources for students to learn and excel in school. However I feel they
are not that far behind, I feel they will improve their system as time goes on. They have less
people attending college, however I feel this is the case because of the lack of Colleges in Brazil.
In conclusion Brazil Is only slightly behind the United States in Education.
Clothing
Business Attire
Most businesses in Brazil tend to keep their dress very conservative. These
businesses want to be seen very professional. Most men where a formal suit and
tie, vest and pockets watches should be avoided. Shirts and suits should be free
of wrinkles. Suits should be tailored and fit correctly, not big and baggy. Suits
are more modern and slim fitting instead of baggy and loose fitting. Brazil business
wear tends to stick with dark color. Women in Brazil business wear suits or dress that
are elegant and professional. Women in Brazil are preferred to have their hair up.
Clothing
Casual Attire: Brazilian culture is very high fashion with many colors and
patterns. Brazil style trends to a unisex style, with many colors. Due to the hot
weather shorts and skirts for women are common. Men can be seen in shorts, tank
tops, and sandals. Brazilian fashion also includes many floral and tropical prints.

Etiquette
Etiquette Tips for Brazil
Etiquette tip 1: Men shake hands when greeting one another, while maintaining steady eye
contact.
Etiquette tip 2: Brazilians prefer face-to-face meetings to written communication as it allows
them to know the person with whom they are doing business.
Etiquette tip 3: The individual they deal with is more important than the company.
Etiquette tip 4: Criticizing an individual causes that person to lose face with the others in the
meeting.
Etiquette tip 5: Communication is often informal and does not rely on strict rules of protocol.
Anyone who feels they have something to say will generally add their opinion.

Re: Country Study & Non-Profit
Opening Statement- Through extensive research of other countries and cultures I have discovered
some countries have difficulty with issue relating to their environment or culture. I feel these countries could use our help through a Non-Profit organization. This company could provide help or raise money and awareness to problems both cultural and environmental.
Brazil- Wildlife endangered species
Brazil struggles from having many endangered species, to help combat this problem I plan to make stuffed animals and sell them in the United States and Brazil. The money gained from these stuffed animals will be donated to help endangered species.
I will also have people from Brazil make traditional Brazilian bracelets with animal beads to be sold in the United States.
Australia- Great Barrier Reef
Climate change and increase in pollution has put the Great Barrier Reef in danger. I plan to start an organization that sells bracelets similar to the Lokia Bracelets, but they will contain water from the ocean the Great Barrier Reef and sand from the beaches of Australia. The bracelets will be made in Australia.
I plan to also sell a variety of Ocean themed phone cases to help the cause. Cases main contain floating glitter and foam fish.
South Africa- Water Filters
South Africa suffers severally from water pollution. My Company plans to sell life straws and every straw sold another in donated in Africa. Also for every 1000 filters sold we will install a large filter in South Africa.
Closing Thank for your time and consideration, I hope to speak about this more with you about these subjects. I feel this ideas shall help us better the world and environment.
