HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT IDENTIFYING THIS

    PROBLEM?

    Vendors shelter

Some vendors, dominated by women weretrading in an unhealthy environment, where itwas dirty, filthy, some selling their clothes underdirect sunlight and rain during summer seasons

and extreme cold on winter seasons.

Council resolved that a formal vendors sheltersbe constructed. The other sector which had thesame challenge is another group of women are

selling bulky vegetables, they were exposed tosame conditions to those selling clothing. Theshelter is finished as well.

    IS THIS ISSUE IMPORTANT?

These issues are very important in the following

senses: Vendors Shelter It will improve their working

health conditions as exposure to direct sunlightand rain could be hazardous to them. They could

be vulnerable to sicknesses and their warescould be damaged in the long term.

The Lights saves citizens especially womenfrom being robbed and raped as they dont have

enough strength to fight rapists and robbers.Their security is improved and they feel morecomfortable to trade until late, thus theyimproving economically.

    MONITORING AND EVALUATION

The vendors shelter is dominated by females at

99 % Council sensitise members of the public in

mass meetings to participate in this form oftrade as well. Man feel that market trade is

meant for women. There is a need and a plan to extend the

structure, this is evidenced by the incomingnumber of applications from the youth andwomen willing to start businesses.

    LESSONS LEARNED

I have leant conflict management and

management of change. Negotiating with peoplefor things that benefit them.

The very same people who are being assisted do

not want to move to new and healthy site , theywant to remain the old dirty and risky site.

The benefiting group became divided over theproject, but eventually the project was

successful and is now in full operation.PROJECTS:L
